<h1>Role: Software Engineer – C++ / Computer Vision (R&D Software)</h1>Location: Kharadi Pune Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew, we design and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living! Our Sports Medicine team is building a next-generation computer-assisted surgical navigation system to transform sports medicine. We are seeking a skilled Software Engineer C++, with expertise in computer vision, including tracking, calibration, and projective geometry. You will design and develop high-quality C++ software, solve complex problems autonomously, and contribute to architectural decisions.As part of a multi-site agile team, you will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to deliver software that provides real value to surgeons and patients.<h2>What will you be doing?</h2><ul><li>Development of proof-of-concepts for computer vision applications for use in surgical navigation products to meet customer needs and usability</li><li>Design and development of production C++ code for medical devices, including test automation</li><li>Work with multi-functional team for requirements definition, design and development of embedded software</li><li>Be accountable for the entirety of the produced software in each software increment, from definition of requirements and acceptance criteria to documentation and testing of the work done</li><li>Build software-focused automation frameworks for C++ codebases.</li><li>Support debugging and root cause analysis of software under support.</li><li>Champion a strong quality mindset and advocate quality-first practices across teams.</li><li>Perform design control functions to ensure compliance with IEC 62304.</li></ul><h2>What will you need to be successful?</h2><ul><li>Bachelor's or master's degree in, Computer Science, Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Information Technology, Equivalent hands-on mobile development.</li><li>Should have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development with a focus on C/C++.</li><li>Proficiency in image processing, software development using OpenCV.</li><li>Experience designing, implementing, and debugging multi-threaded applications.</li><li>Application development experience on Linux OS.</li><li>CUDA or other high-performance computing (HPC) experience is desirable.</li><li>Knowledge of video I/O interfaces with Linux systems is a plus.</li><li>Familiarity with computer vision algorithms, including image processing, tracking, and camera calibration.</li><li>Experience in graphics programming and parallel computing software development is desirable.</li><li>Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).</li><li>Proven ability to write unit and component-level tests for C++ applications.</li><li>Experience with Python or Shell scripting for test execution, automation, and tooling is desirable.</li><li>Familiarity with modern testing frameworks is a plus.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.</li><li>Strong communication skills and experience managing external contractors and reviewing technical deliverables.</li></ul>Competencies:<ul><li>Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.</li><li>Passion for learning emerging technologies and applying innovation in testing.</li><li>Collaborative team player, self-driven, adaptable, and capable of handling multiple priorities.</li><li>Experience working in regulated, safety-critical, or compliance-driven environments is a strong advantage.</li><li>Hands-on experience in any of the following domains are encouraged to apply,</li><li>• Medical Devices / Healthcare Software (highly preferred)</li><li>• Automotive / ADAS / AUTOSAR-based systems</li><li>• Industrial Automation / Robotics</li><li>• Biomedical</li></ul>You Unlimited.We believe in crafting the greatest good for society.
