Position Summary

The Software Engineer develops high-quality software for Globus Medical products. The engineer works with product and clinical teams to understand user needs and contributes throughout the software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through testing and release.

The successful candidate will bring strength in at least one area of software development and enough breadth to work effectively with adjacent parts of the product. Depending on the team, this may include applications, user interfaces, services, data, algorithms, devices, or firmware. The engineer is not expected to be an expert in every area.

The scope and autonomy of the position will be calibrated to the selected career level.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Translate clinical, user, and product needs into clear software behavior, designs, interfaces, and verification approaches.
• Design, implement, debug, and test production-quality software using established engineering practices.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept when needed to evaluate product or technical ideas.
• Integrate software with adjacent components and systems relevant to the assigned product area.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and release activities.
• Contribute to required medical-device software documentation and follow applicable quality and cybersecurity processes.
• Collaborate with clinical, product, systems, UX, quality, and other engineering specialists as needed.
• Communicate technical decisions, progress, and risks clearly.
• Provide technical guidance or mentoring appropriate to the selected career level.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or another technical field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, debugging, and testing software in at least one language appropriate to the product.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools to support software design, implementation, testing, debugging, or documentation, while independently validating outputs and following applicable security and confidentiality requirements.
• Working knowledge of software design, source control, code review, and automated testing.
• Ability to solve technical problems and learn unfamiliar parts of a software system.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing software for medical devices, robotics, navigation, imaging, surgical systems, or another regulated or safety-critical industry.
• Experience with one or more technologies selected for the position.
• Experience with relevant application, UI, service, data, algorithm, device, firmware, or test technologies.
• Familiarity with medical-device software development, design controls, or risk management.
• Experience working directly with clinical users, customers, service teams, or other end users.
• Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring appropriate to the selected career level.
  
  

Working Expectations

• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Ability to attend laboratory sessions, surgeries, customer observations, or field activities as required by the product area.
