We encourage you to step beyond your comfort zone, offering resources and flexibility to foster your professional and personal growth, all while valuing your unique contributions.</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p>Researches trends and developments in a defined technology area and derives respective suggestions to R&amp;D Management.<p>As a <b>Sr</b> <b>Staff Scientist, Handheld Systems </b>you will support product development and continuous improvement activities related to electrochemical biosensors/assays.  The Sr Staff Scientist, Handheld Systems will integrate within priority areas of need to assure timely, focused deliverables aligned with strategic direction.  This role will support new product development initiatives and sustaining engineering activities through application of:</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>Scientific rigor across all phases of the product development lifecycle</p></li><li><p>Strong attention to detail and experimental design principles</p></li><li><p>Proven problem-solving capabilities with a structured and methodical approach</p></li><li><p>Extensive chemistry domain knowledge (e.g. electrochemistry, electrochemical sensing, material chemistry).</p></li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Key Responsibilities:</b></p><p></p><p>This is a role well suited to an ambitious professional, looking for the next step in their career.<b> </b>As a <b>Sr</b> <b>Staff Scientist, Handheld Systems </b>you will be responsible for:</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>Enforcing scientific rigor and excellence across all stages of assay / sensor development, ensuring that research outputs are robust, reproducible, and clinically relevant.</p></li><li><p>Driving scientific understanding of assay design by applying fundamental scientific principles and first-principles thinking to guide innovation, troubleshoot challenges, and optimize performance.</p></li><li><p>Lead the development of novel electrochemical assays and processes for the handheld product line with a focus on critical care applications.</p></li><li><p>Resolving complex technical challenges with structured problem-solving approaches, leveraging Siemens Healthineers tools and processes where applicable.</p></li><li><p>Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality systems in all research and development activities.</p></li><li><p>Championing the use of statistical methods and data science practices to enable timely, data-driven decisions regarding assay design and performance.</p></li><li><p>Mentoring and coaching junior scientists, fostering a culture of scientific curiosity, innovation, and continuous improvement.</p></li><li style="color:black !important"><p><span style="color:#000000">Collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, clinical, quality, marketing and regulatory teams to align scientific strategy with product development goals and patient needs. <br /><br /></span></p></li></ul><p><b>Required Qualifications</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p>Degree in Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science or a related scientific field. Advanced degrees preferred.</p></li><li><p>12 &#43; years of experience with electrochemical devices and/or sensing technologies</p></li><li><p>5&#43; years working on R&amp;D sensor development projects within the medical device industry.</p></li><li><p>Proven track record of successful product development, including product launch, design for manufacturing and technical problem-solving</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of FDA Design Controls, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.</p></li><li><p>Experience writing design documentation and specifications that meet regulatory requirements.</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, cross-disciplinary team environment.</p></li></ul><p> </p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><p></p><ul><li><p>Experience with regulatory submissions and compliance</p></li><li><p>Experience with in-vitro diagnostic assays</p></li></ul><p> </p><p> </p><p>The expected Compensation for this position is: $<i>110,000.00 CAD - $157,000.00 CAD</i></p><p> </p><p>Factors which may affect starting compensation within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.</p><p></p><p>Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including a flexible benefits plan, Defined Contribution Pension Plan, Registered Retirement Savings Plan matching contributions, plus a competitive paid time off program including vacation, company holidays, sick leave, and parental leave (all subject to eligibility requirements).</p><p></p><p>This information is provided per required laws and regulations.
