You will work closely with an agile team of software engineers, as well as hardware, manufacturing line and principal engineers. You will also ensure that the software used in medical devices—such as those in hospital operating rooms and intensive care units—meets applicable requirements and supports regulatory compliance.<br><br>The position is based in Vallila, Helsinki, where GE HealthCare employs approximately 700 people across engineering, R&D and manufacturing. The Helsinki site is a center of excellence for wearable patient monitoring, with a long-standing reputation as a powerhouse of innovation. We offer end-to-end capabilities on site—from Installed Base support to Product Development, Advanced Manufacturing, and Innovation—all under one roof.<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h1><b>Job Description</b></h1><p><b>Essential Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><p>Design and implement embedded software components for data acquisition, real-time processing, peripherals, drivers, power optimizations, RTOS and communication protocols.</p></li><li><p>Develop and maintain software and automated tests, primarily on Windows, with contributions to Linux-based tooling and environments as needed.</p></li><li><p>Apply SDLC Agile/Lean best practices, including software and product security, scalability, documentation, verification and validation aligned with medical device standards.</p></li><li><p>Design software components using solid object-oriented principles and appropriate design patterns and translate system designs into clear class and flow diagrams.</p></li><li><p>Build and continuously improve robust, high-quality software that is efficient, testable, and easy to maintain.</p></li><li><p>Guide and perform hands-on functional and performance testing, troubleshooting, and debugging on target hardware to optimize software behavior.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate and communicate effectively in a global, cross-functional, and multicultural environment; taking end-to-end ownership of assigned development tasks such as planning, implementation, testing, quality, and documentation.</p></li><li><p>Continuously improve our development methods, tools, automation, and code quality, contributing to team-wide excellence.</p></li></ul><p><b>Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p>Master’s degree in computer/electrical/software/biomedical engineering, physics, or a related field.</p></li><li><p>10+ years of relevant product software development experience using Agile/Lean methodologies, including documentation and quality practices.</p></li><li><p>Deep experience in and passion for software development and testing.</p></li><li><p>Proficiency with version control systems like Git, code review tools, and continuous integration.</p></li><li><p>Strong C++ skills with deep experience in object-oriented design and design patterns.</p></li><li><p>Experience in test development, test automation on target hardware and Python 3.</p></li><li><p>Experience applying AI-powered tools in software development workflows.</p></li><li><p>Hands-on experience with hardware and embedded systems debugging and troubleshooting with the help of IO logic analyzer, oscilloscope, and voltage/current measurements; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.</p></li><li><p>Excellent communication skills and fluency in English both written and spoken.</p></li><li><p>Legally authorized to work in Finland and able work at Vallila office minimum 3 days a week.</p></li></ul><p><b>Desired Characteristics</b></p><ul><li><p>Familiarity with regulated industries and quality management systems (e.g. for medical devices) and related processes.</p></li><li><p>Experience with vital signs measurement technologies.</p></li><li><p>A proactive, self-directed mindset with enthusiasm for learning, experimenting, and solving complex problems.</p></li></ul><p><b>We Offer</b></p><ul><li><p>A unique opportunity to work on leading edge health technologies and products.</p></li><li><p>Work with nice and supportive colleagues and have access to world class processes and professionals across different functions.</p></li><li><p>Possibility to influence in a diverse multicultural working environment.</p></li><li><p>Competitive compensation and benefits, such as bonus plan and extensive healthcare insurance.</p></li><li><p>Great opportunity to learn and develop various technologies.</p></li><li><p>Work with and learn from talented experts in the health technology industry—in a team with great spirit.</p></li><li><p>Build your knowledge and skills with regular technical and soft skills trainings organized on site.</p></li><li><p>Possibility to try and grow into different roles in the organization—technical and managerial.</p></li><li><p>Office near Pasila railway station in central Helsinki with excellent public transport connections, own on-site parking, gym, great café and restaurant.</p></li></ul><p></p><p>Looking for a great team, great atmosphere, and even greater mission?
