The successful candidate will be responsible for the execution of various molecular assays and NGS library preparation workflows to support the development of novel genetic therapies for serious diseases. This position requires enthusiasm, attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and a desire to create new medicines for patients. This position reports to the Associate Director, Genomics. Responsibilities<ul><li>Perform DNA/RNA extractions from biological samples, including blood/plasma, primary cells, and tissue samples</li><li>Transform nucleic acid samples into next generation sequencing libraries for a variety of downstream applications using manual or automated methods </li><li>Perform routine quality control experiments on sequencing libraries (fluorescent quantification, capillary electrophoresis, and qPCR) and prepare samples for sequencing</li><li>Maintain sequencing instrumentation and laboratory facilities; troubleshoot instrument and sequencing issues</li><li>Attend project team meetings and communicate effectively across functional teams to ensure timely completion of concurrent projects</li><li>Track sample data and project timelines through a laboratory information management system (LIMS) and electronic laboratory notebook (ELN)</li></ul>Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>BS/MS in biology or related discipline</li><li>Industry Experience<ul><li>Senior Research Associate – 4-7+ years or 2-5+ years with advanced degree</li></ul></li><li>Proven experience in NGS library preparation including amplicon sequencing, target enrichment, long read technologies, & WGS</li><li>Hands-on experience with Illumina next generation sequencing (NGS) instruments</li><li>Proficiency in relevant areas of molecular biology and genetics</li><li>Experience working collaboratively with wet and dry lab scientists, and understanding large data sets </li><li>Excellent organizational and communication skills</li><li>Ability to think strategically, manage time efficiently, and work independently in a results-oriented research team</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>Prior research experience in the biotech industry with a focus on next generation sequencing</li><li>Experience with Hamilton liquid handlers, Illumina BaseSpace, and a laboratory information management system (LIMS)</li><li>Experience with NGS-based assay development and troubleshooting</li><li>Experience with long-read sequencing technologies such as Oxford Nanopore or PacBio</li><li>Experience with gene editing technologies</li></ul>Competencies<ul><li>Collaborative – Openness, One Team</li><li>Undaunted – Fearless, Can-do attitude</li><li>Results Oriented – Delivering progress toward our mission.
