Job Description

Role Overview

As a Senior Staff Project Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will lead high-impact, strategic initiatives that support our mission of making the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. This is a senior-level, strategic role that goes well beyond standard project coordination.

You will drive manufacturing and technical transfer projects, support European cost-down initiatives, and act as a true thought partner to senior leaders — not just a project executor. You will translate strategic priorities into executable plans, establish strong governance, and guide cross-functional teams to successful delivery across divisions and regions.

This role requires executive presence, strong stakeholder leadership, and the ability to navigate complex manufacturing and supply chain environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic manufacturing and technical transfer projects end-to-end

  • Support and drive European cost-down and operational efficiency initiatives

  • Partner with senior leaders to translate strategy into executable project plans

  • Establish project governance, accountability, and performance tracking

  • Manage multiple concurrent high-impact projects (typically $/€3M+ scope)

  • Proactively manage risks, supply chain disruptions, and cross-functional dependencies

  • Lead stakeholder communication across matrixed global organizations

  • Present project updates, risks, and recommendations to executive leadership

  • Drive business transformation, process optimization, and organizational change

  • Ensure alignment with business objectives and customer impact

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in project/program management leading complex, cross-functional initiatives

  • Strong technical background (engineering degree preferred; equivalent experience considered)

  • Experience managing projects with budgets in the €/$3M range (minimum six-figure scope)

  • Proven full ownership of projects including stakeholder management, timelines, and risk handling

  • Manufacturing experience — strong understanding of production environments and factory operations

  • Direct exposure to supply chain challenges within project environments

  • Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies and best practices

  • Strong proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, PPM Pro, etc.)

  • Advanced stakeholder management and senior-level communication skills

  • Experience leading business transformation and organizational change initiatives

  • Excellence in risk management, issue resolution, and executive reporting
