Job Description:

WHAT - Summary & Purpose of the Position

 

The Senior Medical Information Manager (MI) serves as a scientific resource and subject matter expert for the strategic development and delivery of high-quality medical information for Ipsen products. This individual supports Medical Information through complex scientific content development, response document management, inquiry trend analysis, and collaboration with cross functional stakeholders to ensure the timely, accurate, balanced, and compliant dissemination of medical information.

This role serves as a key medical reviewer on the Promotional Review Committee and Medical Review Committee, managing complex reviews, providing strategic input, and ensuring scientific rigor and compliant messaging.

The Senior Manager drives local Medical Information initiatives, evaluates customer insights to inform content strategy, supports key business priorities such as product launches and congress activities, and may provide oversight or people leadership to support the advancement of Medical Information and improved patient care. The role requires strong scientific judgment, excellent medical writing skills, operational discipline, and a deep understanding of medical, pharmacovigilance, quality, regulatory, legal, and compliance requirements.

WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies

Content Management:

• Lead the development, review, and approval of content, including CRDs, SRDs, and FAQs in response to unsolicited scientific inquiries, including complex requests from internal stakeholders and escalations from the MI call center.
• Lead the creation and approval of training materials, slide decks, compendia letters/submissions, and other internal medical materials as a medical resource by working closely with key internal stakeholders across multiple therapeutic areas.
• As the subject matter expert, monitor new and updated literature, labeling updates, guidelines, compendia, congress data, and relevant external medical resources to ensure MI content remains current and scientifically accurate.
• Serve as a lead medical reviewer for promotional and non-promotional materials through Medical, Legal, Regulatory review committees, ensuring content is scientifically accurate, medically appropriate, balanced, and aligned with approved labeling and applicable requirements.

Supports Organization:

• Liaise with Global Medical Information and US Medical Affairs colleagues exchange to ensure alignment on strategy, tactical planning, and the overall medical information content and best practices.
• Lead cross functional projects as a medical information representative across multiple therapeutic areas.
• Support and provide oversight of the MI call center, including their activities, quality assurance including audits, and process improvement.
• Ensure all monthly reports including adverse events, product quality complaints are reviewed and reconciled accordingly.
• Lead claims development and substantiation by identifying, evaluating, and documenting appropriate scientific evidence with minimal guidance.
• Analyze MI inquiries to identify data gaps, trends, and insights, translating them into actionable suggestions to inform content strategy and stakeholder decision-making to help improve overall customer engagement.
• Explore and assist AI-enabled tools adoption to enhance the digital capabilities in developing MI content and operational proficiency.
• Lead MI’s planning and presence at scientific conferences collaboratively with medical communications.
• Contribute to inspection/audit readiness by maintaining appropriate documentation, version control, approval records, and process adherence.
• Lead the development and update of MI SOPs, working practices, and guidelines where applicable.
• Performs other MI responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
• Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of Ipsen U.S. staff.

HOW - Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge & Experience (essential):

• 3+ years of Medical Information experience within the pharmaceutical industry or related clinical pharmacy practice/managed care experience with an advanced degree, or 6+ years with a Master's degree, required.
• Advanced medical writing skills with the ability to synthesize and communicate complex scientific and medical information effectively.
• Advanced proficiency in medical literature searching, including PubMed, EMBASE, and other relevant databases.
• Extensive experience developing medical information response documents that accurately summarize medical literature and are current, scientifically balanced, and of high quality.
• Advanced knowledge of regulatory authority, legal, and industry guidelines and requirements related to the practice of medical and drug information within the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific information effectively to diverse audiences.

• Ability to travel up to 25% to represent the company at medical conferences, presentations, and other meetings.

Knowledge & Experience (preferred):

• Strong Neurology/Neuroscience expertise is preferred, particularly within Medical Information, Medical Affairs, Medical Communications, or a related function in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry; experience in Oncology, Rare Diseases, and Endocrinology is also desirable.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a medical or promotional reviewer within a medical and promotional review committees is strongly preferred.
• Medical Information call center management is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Veeva, IRMS, insights generation systems, and other Medical Information content management platforms is preferred.

Education / Certifications (essential):

• Advanced degree in life science/healthcare (Pharm.D., PhD, MD) required. 

Language(s) (essential):

• Fluent in English required.

The annual base salary range for this position is $155,000-$195,000 USD.

This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentives program.

The pay range displayed above is the range of base pay compensation within which Ipsen expects to pay for this role at the time of this posting. Individual compensation within this range depends on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge and demonstrated skills.
