POSITION SUMMARY As a Senior Machine Learner, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team and become a key driver in building highly accurate image analysis systems and machine learning models for both novel drug development and clinical routine. There are big challenges in the field of digital pathology like demanding accuracy requirements and the large variability of human cells. With your expertise and the possibilities of deep learning and artificial intelligence, you will work on solutions which will take the current healthcare to the next level and help generate a true impact beyond the status quo. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES - Build the world’s best image analysis models in digital pathology using PyTorch. - Create and test prototypes of deep learning methods. - Develop these prototypes into deployed AI software models for our live environment. - Manage, preprocess, and analyze large image datasets for machine learning, and improve our data annotation pipelines for efficiency and quality. - Take the lead in challenging AI projects and inspire other MLers with your ideas and execution. - Collaborate closely with our tech team to build reliable and efficient AI software production systems. - Partner with our medical team to specify data needs for AI development and validation. - Work together with our product managers and pathology experts to develop new customer centric AI product concepts and identify AI requirements. YOUR PROFILE - M.Sc / P.hD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or similar with excellent grades. - Expert theoretical knowledge in machine learning. - Multi-year practical experience in deep learning for computer vision with PyTorch. - Technical skills to productionize and deploy neural network models for live environments. - Experience in using agentic AI tools for prototyping and software engineering - Enjoying interdisciplinary teamwork, thinking outside the box and communication with our partners. - Keen to understand how AI products can make a significant difference in users’ daily lives. - Independent structured working style and willingness to take responsibility. - Great analytical skills and the urge to constantly learn, mentor, and share knowledge along the way. - Deep knowledge of servers and IT infrastructure is a plus. - Interest in leading people is a plus. - Fluent in English, additional German is a plus.
