Upgrade to Pro — $25/moThis role is ideal for engineers with a strong foundation in electronics, embedded hardware, backend platforms, CPU and BIOS technologies, FPGA integration, or system-level hardware engineering who are interested in broadening their technical scope. We are not looking for expertise in every area listed below. Instead, we are looking for an engineer with deep competence in at least one relevant hardware discipline, combined with the curiosity and capability to learn adjacent technologies and contribute at the system level.
As part of a diverse and multicultural engineering team in Horten, you will work closely with software, mechanical engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, quality and regulatory teams, while collaborating with GE HealthCare ultrasound organizations across Europe, the United States and Asia. You will contribute to system architecture, hardware design and integration, platform development, technical problem solving, reliability investigations and lifecycle management of complex medical-device systems.
Your responsibilities may include backend processing (BEP) and computing platforms, CPU architecture, BIOS and platform firmware, board-level electronics, FPGA integration, power architecture, communication interfaces, hardware/software integration, system bring-up and verification, as well as field and manufacturing issue investigations. Depending on your experience and interests, you will gradually expand ownership across multiple technical areas and become a key contributor to the successful integration of complete ultrasound systems.
We are seeking candidates with a Master's degree or PhD in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, together with approximately 5-10 years of experience developing, integrating or sustaining complex electronic products or systems. Experience in medical devices, regulated industries, system integration, reliability engineering or safety-critical products is advantageous but not required.
Success in this role means becoming a trusted technical partner who can bridge subsystem boundaries, strengthen technical ownership within the team, improve system integration and verification processes, and help resolve challenging product and reliability issues through structured, system-level thinking. Above all, we are looking for an engineer who combines strong technical depth with collaboration, curiosity and a passion for continuous learning.
