Job Summary
The Senior Director, Total Rewards is a strategic and operational leader responsible for shaping and executing Fresenius Kabi’s Total Rewards philosophy for Region US. This role oversees the design, implementation, governance, and communication of compensation, benefits, and wellness programs that attract, retain, and inspire talent across all regions. The Sr Director partners closely with executive leadership team to ensure Total Rewards programs are competitive, equitable, scalable, and aligned with the business strategy and guiding principles of Fresenius Kabi.
*This position requires working onsite 3 days per week at our Lake Zurich, IL site.
• Salary Range: $220,000-250,000.
• Position is eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan with a target of 22% of the base salary.
• Position is eligible to participate in our medium-term incentive plan.
• Final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to experience level, education, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities
Total Rewards Strategy & Leadership
- Architect and lead a comprehensive US Total Rewards strategy integrating base pay, variable incentives, equity programs, benefits, performance management and recognition, aligned with the global Total Rewards philosophy, business objectives and long-term value creation.
- Partner with executive leadership to align rewards philosophy with company principles, and growth expectations.
- Oversee the creation of policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation.
- Lead and develop a high performing US Total Rewards team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and inclusion.
Compensation & Performance Management
- Lead the design, benchmarking, and administration of salary structures, short- and long-term incentive plans, and equity programs, including executive compensation for Region US.
- Serve as a primary advisor on senior leadership compensation, supporting the Global Total Rewards team and pay-for-performance alignment.
- Oversee annual compensation planning cycles, job architecture, and market pricing for all US-based Fresenius Kabi roles.
- Lead the design, governance, communication, and continuous improvement of the company’s performance management process, ensuring alignment with Global Rewards team to ensure alignment with business strategy, leadership expectations, and talent development priorities. Also aligning with Workday team to ensure system capabilities and alignment.
Equity & Incentive Programs
- Drive strategic design and governance of equity programs to secure and sustain high‑caliber technical talent.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and external advisors to ensure equity programs comply with SEC, IRS, and applicable global regulations.
- Model compensation and equity scenarios to support hiring, retention, and organizational scaling decisions.
- Direct and oversee global pay equity analyses and remediation strategies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international regulatory requirements while supporting fair, competitive, and equitable compensation practices across the organization.
Benefits & Well Being Programs
- Lead the strategic design and administration of health, retirement, wellness, and leave programs that support a diverse US workforce.
- Ensure benefits offerings are competitive and compliant with applicable regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and global equivalents as applicable.
- Monitor and advise on emerging benefits trends relevant to Fresenius Kabi employees.
Data, Analytics & Workforce Insights
- Leverage workforce analytics and market data to inform decisions related to pay equity, program ROI, budgeting, and talent retention.
- Partner closely with Finance on forecasting, cost modeling, and long term rewards sustainability.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or related field; advanced degree or certifications (CCP, CEP, CBP, CEBS, SPHR, PHR) strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in Total Rewards, Compensation, Benefits, or Financial Planning, including experience leading teams and partnering with C‑suite executives with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
- Expertise in global compensation design and administration, including base pay, incentives, sales compensation, and equity programs.
- Strong understanding of global labor, tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements related to compensation and benefits.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across functions, levels, and geographies.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship‑building skills.
- Advanced analytical and financial modeling capabilities, with the ability to translate data into insights and recommendations.
- Demonstrated agility, precision, and resilience in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities.
- Strong project management, organizational, and execution skills with meticulous attention to detail.
