Position Summary

The Early Differentiation and Pipeline Strategy (EDAPS) team sits within the Global Medical Oncology organization under Global Medical Affairs and partners with Research and the Early Clinical Development teams within R&D. The team is responsible for the global Medical strategy for all hematology and oncology (HO) assets from candidate selection to clinical proof-of-concept (PoC) stage of the drug development cycle.

The EDAPS Global Medical Lead is responsible for the development and execution of BMS’ global medical strategy for a subset of assets within the HO early development portfolio and is accountable to the early asset Development teams. The Lead will support the development of clinically differentiated compounds via interpretation of evolving pre-clinical & clinical data and engaging with thought leaders (TLs) early and often during the pre-POC phase of asset lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities

This position plays a critical role in ensuring the clinical differentiation of a subset of early assets (EA) in the HO pipeline and helping unlock its full potential. This leader owns the EA medical strategy, including medical evidence generation (MEG) plans, publications and communications strategy, and early Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP-lite) to maximize the value of these assets.

Execution will be across the following domains: 1) Insight gathering and integration; 2) Medical evidence generation; 3) Medical Communications; 4) Thought leader and patient advocacy engagement.

The key responsibilities are:

• Medical accountability for a set of early HO assets; matrix management responsibilities across the internal network (R&D, Medical, and Commercial)

• As a core member of early asset Global Program Teams (GPTs), be a critical thought partner to the Global Program Leads, Clinical Development leads, Translational Medicine leads, and HO Medical/Commercial teams, to deliver against objectives and program milestones

• Ensure the development of a clearly differentiated early TPP for each asset and contribute to the early Clinical Development Plan at DC readiness by bringing in early scientific, clinical, and patient input (differentiation; unlocking new indications and combinations)

• Own the early Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP-lite) for select assets that drive innovative data generation to accelerate and de-risk clinical development in collaboration with the respective GPT and external scientific partnerships 

• Own the medical communications strategy for each asset and work with the publications team to develop the scientific narratives (e.g., describing MoA) and develop and execute a robust publication strategy

• Partner with external Thought Leaders and Patient Advocacy groups on an ongoing basis to gain medical advice on compound strategies with a goal to inform asset decision making and portfolio tradeoffs

• Lead the planning and execution of advisory boards

• Exercise enterprise mindset with a strong ability to work in a highly matrixed environment

• Be a science-driven Medical Affairs professional with high business acumen

Qualifications & Experience

• Advanced degree - MD, PharmD, or PhD
• 8-10 years clinical, medical, or other pharma industry experience
• A breadth of relevant industry experience (Medical Affairs, Translational Medicine, and/or Clinical Development)
• Therapeutic experience in malignant hematology and/or oncology; working knowledge of basic and clinical science and early drug development
• Proven ability to interact with thought leaders and key customers in the early clinical space
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assets, priorities, and decision timelines in a complex, matrixed environment and lead without direct authority
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex scientific and clinical information and construct a compelling value narrative to influence and align diverse stakeholders

The starting pay range(s) listed above is for full-time employees (FTE). You may also be eligible for additional discretionary incentive cash and stock opportunities. We determine starting pay thoughtfully – carefully considering the nature of the role, required skills, work location, schedule and the knowledge and experience you bring. Final compensation is guided by pay equity principles and applicable employment laws. Compensation programs are reviewed on an ongoing basis and may be adjusted over time to reflect evolving market factors, and individual, team or Company performance.

U.S.-based exempt employees are eligible for Flexible Time Off (FTO), which provides paid time off without a set accrual limit, subject to manager approval, along with 11 paid company holidays each year.

Non-exempt employees, RayzeBio employees, and employees located in Puerto Rico receive 160 hours of paid vacation annually for new hires (subject to manager approval), 11 paid company holidays, and 3 optional holidays.

Depending on eligibility, employees may also have access to additional time-off benefits, including paid sick leave, up to two paid volunteer days per year, summer hours flexibility, and leaves of absence for medical, personal, parental, caregiver, bereavement, or military needs.
