<p style="text-align:left"><b>Work Schedule</b></p>Standard (Mon-Fri)<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>Environmental Conditions</b></p>Office<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b><u>Job Description</u></b></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p>Thermo Fisher Scientific's Ion Chromatography and Sample Preparation (ICSP) team is seeking a to provide technical leadership in building and scaling modern DevOps and platform engineering capabilities for next-generation ion chromatography laboratory instruments.</p><p></p><p><b>This role is part of a strategic NPI (New Product Introduction) initiative focused on developing a new generation platform for chromatographic instruments.</b> This is not about maintaining or incrementally improving existing solutions, but a complete redesign of a system currently built on approximately 15-year-old electronics.</p><p></p><p>The goal is to create a modern, scalable platform by leveraging new technologies to significantly improve performance, functionality, and overall system architecture. The work involves enabling robust development and deployment of software for high-precision analytical instruments, combining advanced hardware, reliability, and complex system integration.</p><p></p><p>This is a <b>multi-year program</b>, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to shape DevOps and platform capabilities across multiple phases of development—from early architecture through to commercialization.</p><p></p><h2><span><b>What will you do?</b></span></h2><p>You will define and drive DevOps and platform engineering practices, establishing scalable, secure, and reliable foundations for software delivery across embedded and distributed systems.</p><p></p><h3><u><span><b>DevOps Strategy & Platform Engineering</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Define and implement <b>DevOps and platform engineering strategy</b> aligned with R&D and business objectives</li><li>Standardize development environments, tooling, and workflows to support scalable and efficient engineering practices</li><li>Harmonize DevOps practices with divisional and corporate standards</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>CI/CD, Build & Release Engineering</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Design, implement, and maintain <b>CI/CD pipelines</b> supporting embedded software, firmware, drivers, and backend services</li><li>Establish and optimize build systems, artifact management, and release orchestration processes</li><li>Ensure reproducibility, traceability, and auditability of builds and releases</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Infrastructure Automation & Cloud</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Lead <b>Infrastructure as Code (IaC)</b> initiatives for environment provisioning, configuration management, and automation</li><li>Support containerized and cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) for development, testing, and deployment workflows</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>DevSecOps, Compliance & Quality</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Integrate <b>security, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks</b> into development pipelines (DevSecOps)</li><li>Ensure alignment with regulatory and quality requirements, including documentation and traceability</li><li>Promote secure configuration and deployment practices</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Observability, Reliability & Operations</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting frameworks to ensure system reliability and diagnostics</li><li>Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives</li><li>Drive reliability, performance, and operational excellence across systems</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Collaboration & Technical Leadership</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Partner with software, firmware, QA, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams to streamline development workflows</li><li>Mentor engineers and promote DevOps culture, automation best practices, and operational excellence</li><li>Influence technical direction across teams without direct authority</li></ul><p></p><h3><u><span><b>Innovation & Productivity</b></span></u></h3><ul><li>Drive adoption of modern tools, including <b>AI-assisted development and automation</b>, to improve speed, quality, and knowledge sharing</li></ul><p></p><h2><span><b>Qualifications & Skills</b></span></h2><ul><li>Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)</li><li>Extensive experience in <b>DevOps, platform engineering, or systems engineering</b>, including designing and operating CI/CD systems in complex environments</li><li>Strong understanding of <b>CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, and modern DevOps methodologies</b></li><li>Hands-on experience with <b>cloud platforms and containerization</b> (e.g., AWS, Azure)</li><li>Experience with <b>Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools</b></li><li>Proficiency in <b>scripting or programming</b> for automation</li><li>Solid understanding of <b>Linux systems, networking, build systems, and distributed architectures</b></li><li>Experience supporting <b>embedded software or hardware-integrated systems</b> strongly preferred</li><li>Experience in <b>regulated or quality-driven environments</b>, including secure development practices</li><li>Familiarity with <b>product cybersecurity and secure configuration management</b></li><li>Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a data-driven approach to reliability and performance</li><li>Proven ability to <b>influence technical direction across teams</b> without direct authority</li><li>Strong communication skills in English</li><li>Interest in leveraging <b>AI-assisted development and automation tools</b></li></ul><p></p><p></p><p></p><p></p>
