We take our work personally, we do it with empathy and we're committed to making a difference.</p><p></p><p></p><p><b><u>Key Accountabilities</u>:<br />Database Administration and Maintenance</b></p><ul><li><p>Install, configure, upgrade, and patch supported database systems (Oracle 10g–19c, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server).</p></li><li><p>Perform database and schema refresh operations using native tools (e.g., Oracle exp/imp, Expdp/Impdp; pg<i>dump/pg</i>restore; SQL Server backup/restore).</p></li><li><p>Implement database change orders according to established schedules and procedures.</p></li><li><p>Monitor database performance and availability using platform-specific tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, pgAdmin, SSMS).</p></li><li><p>Document database policies, procedures, and standards for organizational compliance.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b>Backup, Recovery, and Performance Management</b></p><ul><li><p>Execute backup, restore, and recovery operations using RMAN (Oracle), pgBackRest/Barman (PostgreSQL), or native SQL Server tools.</p></li><li><p>Perform SQL tuning and indexing strategies to optimize query performance.</p></li><li><p>Utilize performance monitoring tools such as AWR/ADDM (Oracle), pg<i>stat</i>statements (PostgreSQL), or SQL Profiler (SQL Server).</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot database and performance issues to minimize system downtime.</p></li><li><p>Maintain and support standby or high-availability configurations for disaster recovery.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b>Infrastructure Support and Collaboration</b></p><ul><li><p>Administer platform-specific technologies such as Oracle ASM/RAC, PostgreSQL replication, or SQL Server Always On Availability Groups.</p></li><li><p>Perform basic system administration tasks on UNIX/Linux (Oracle/PostgreSQL) or Windows Server (SQL Server).</p></li><li><p>Coordinate with system administrators, network teams, and backup teams as required.</p></li><li><p>Participate in project meetings to provide database perspective and technical input.</p></li><li><p>Support clinical research applications through reliable and secure database infrastructure.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b>System Integration and Technical Support</b></p><ul><li><p>Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless integration of database systems with enterprise applications.</p></li><li><p>Provide technical expertise for database-related aspects of system implementations and migrations.</p></li><li><p>Maintain database security and access controls in accordance with organizational policies.</p></li><li><p>Support application teams with database connectivity and performance issues.</p></li><li><p>Ensure database systems meet availability and compliance requirements for clinical research operations.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><u>Skills</u>:</b></p><ul><li><p>Proficiency in any two of the following: Oracle RDBMS (10g–19c), PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server.</p></li><li><p>Experience with monitoring and management tools relevant to the supported platform.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of backup and recovery procedures using platform-specific tools.</p></li><li><p>Expertise in SQL tuning, indexing, and performance optimization.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with high-availability and disaster recovery technologies.</p></li><li><p>Basic UNIX/Linux or Windows Server administration skills depending on platform.</p></li><li><p>Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.</p></li><li><p>Clear written and verbal communication skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.</p></li><li><p>Strong attention to detail and documentation practices.</p></li><li><p>Time management and prioritization capabilities.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work under pressure during system outages.</p></li><li><p>Customer service orientation when supporting internal users.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><u>Knowledge and Experience</u>:</b></p><ul><li><p>7–10 years of experience in database administration in any two of the following: Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MS SQL Server.</p></li><li><p>Experience with installation, upgrade, patching, and migration processes.</p></li><li><p>Hands-on experience with backup and recovery operations.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated experience in SQL performance tuning and optimization.</p></li><li><p>Experience working in high-availability and disaster recovery environments.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of database refresh and migration procedures.</p></li><li><p>Experience coordinating with system administration and network teams.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with operating systems relevant to the supported platform.<br /> </p></li></ul><p><b><u>Education</u>:</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.</p></li><li><p>Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), PostgreSQL certification, or Microsoft SQL Server certifications preferred.</p></li></ul>
