We act as a discovery partner for leading pharma and biotech companies worldwide, providing research services and tools to support the development of personalized medicines.</p><p>Due to growth of our state-of-the-art Cell-Based Screening and Functional Genomic Screening Platforms, we have an exciting opportunity for a <b>Scientist 2</b> to join our Preclinical Services Department. As a Scientist 2 in the Preclinical Services department, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and analysing data generated from high-throughput compound screens and CRISPR-Cas9 functional genomic screens for fee-paying commercial clients. You will also be involved with our automated robotics platforms for seeding, dosing and developing plate-based experiments. Your daily activities will directly align to and benefit Revvity’s goals and values.</p><p>This role will be primarily lab based, with some office work required. You will be expected to work on multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and should be highly self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and be comfortable working under pressure in an environment with shifting priorities.</p><p><b>Note that this position requires flexible working to cover 7-day operations (rota-based). The possibility of weekend work is approximately once a quarter.</b></p><p><b>In this role you will:</b></p><ul><li>Contribute to the planning, execution and delivery of arrayed compound and pooled functional genomics screening projects.</li><li>Design, QC and analyse screening projects, and manage screening activities - co-ordinating cell culture, compound management and automation scientists to ensure timely delivery of projects.</li></ul><ul><li>Utilise our automated platform for seeding, dosing and developing plate-based assays, including developing our capabilities and endpoints further.</li></ul><ul><li>Prepare client reports and support client project tracking and communication in collaboration with the project management office, maintaining an excellent customer experience from start to finish.</li><li>Supervise more junior team members, mentoring them in techniques and troubleshooting.</li><li>Contribute to continuous improvement of screening processes and workflows to maximise effectiveness and reduce costs.</li><li>Work cross-functionally, collaborating for success with the wider Preclinical Services team and beyond.</li></ul><p><b>About You</b></p><p><b>To succeed in this role, you will need:</b></p><ul><li>Higher level degree (e.g. MSc, MRes or PhD) in Biotechnology or Biological discipline (or equivalent experience).</li><li>Experience of mammalian cell culture, excellent aseptic technique and performing various cell-based assays, such as those commonly employed at Revvity Cambridge (https://www.revvity.com/gb-en/category/preclinical-services).</li><li>Experience of handling large datasets and the interpretation and communication of these data to key internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>A familiarity with laboratory automation or liquid handling robots, or a desire to learn about them.</li><li>Experience with troubleshooting a variety of automation and instruments including Echo, Flexdrop, Nexus and Janus.</li></ul><ul><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.</li></ul><ul><li>Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work in a dynamic matrix-managed team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines.</li><li>Excellent planning/organizational skills with a careful and meticulous nature.</li><li>Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow and give instructions, and comply with company policies.</li></ul><p><b>Preferred experience:</b></p><ul><li>Experience working in an Industrial / CRO setting.</li><li>Experience with transfection, transduction and techniques to modulate gene expression in mammalian cell models e.g. CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA, shRNA etc.</li><li>Safe handling and production of lentiviral reagents.</li><li>Familiarity with data visualisation software such as Graphpad Prism and Tibco® Spotfire®.</li><li>Knowledge of molecular biology techniques such as DNA extraction and PCR.</li><li>Experience of high-throughput screening and knowledge of combination screening, including analysing and interpreting compound dose response experiments.</li><li>Knowledge of lab information management systems (LIMS), liquid handling robotic equipment and laboratory automation (although full training will be provided).</li></ul><ul><li>Experience with programming liquid handlers for a variety of different functions e.g. Janus.</li></ul><ul><li>Compound handling experience varying from small molecules to biological materials (although full training will be provided).</li><li>Experience of working in a customer-facing role.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>If you have experience with CRISPR-Cas9, compound screening or laboratory automation and a keen interest in developing these skills further and applying these technologies to clinically relevant applications in a collaborative, team environment, to help our customers and aid drug-discovery then click on the link and apply below to start your screening journey with Revvity! </b></p>
