As a REACH Specialist, you will ensure Lonza’s compliance with REACH and REACH-like chemical regulations by preparing, submitting, and maintaining dossiers. You will act as the primary contact for regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders, and external customers, providing expertise on compliance strategies and marketability impacts. This role is central to safeguarding Lonza’s adherence to evolving global chemical regulations while supporting product safety and business continuity.
Regulatory Compliance: Support Lonza’s obligations under REACH and REACH-like regulations, ensuring compliance of chemicals and products under changing regulatory frameworks.
Dossier Management: Prepare, submit, and maintain registrations, notifications, declarations, and certifications in line with regulatory requirements.
Authority & Consortia Liaison: Act as contact for authorities, SIEFs, and consortia, managing communications and technical submissions.
System & Data Management: Maintain and update chemical regulatory data in SAP and other technical tools, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
Training & Guidance: Provide regulatory training to cross-functional teams, consulting on compliance strategies and marketability concerns.
Operational Procedures: Establish structured documentation and operational procedures to support compliance activities.
Product Safety Support: Contribute to product classification under GHS and Dangerous Goods regulations, authoring and managing regionally compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Customer & Business Support: Respond to compliance inquiries from internal teams and external customers, offering expert guidance.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor regulatory trends and proactively adapt compliance strategies to ensure Lonza’s competitiveness.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to support product safety and compliance initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (Chemistry or Biology preferred).
Master’s degree or higher preferred.
5–10 years of experience with REACH-like regulations, including registrations and notifications for chemical products or articles.
Certifications & Language
Certifications in REACH-Beauftragter, REACH-IT, CHESAR, and IUCLID 6 dossier preparation and submission.
Business fluency in English and German.
Skills & Attributes
Strong knowledge of SAP, Excel, and regulatory authority-mandated software.
Project planning and organizational skills.
Ability to work hands-on and manage multiple projects simultaneously (~10).
Team-oriented mindset with expertise in Environmental, Biological, Chemical, Regulatory, IT, or analytical tools.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
