Position Summary:
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 1st shift hours
4 days onsite / 1 day remote
Catalent’s Madison, Wisconsin facility supports biologics development and manufacturing for biotech and pharmaceutical partners. The site plays a key role in winning new business through the development of high‑quality commercial proposals and ongoing scope expansion for existing customers. Working closely with Business Development, Operations, and Technical teams, the proposal function translates complex scientific and operational inputs into clear, competitive commercial proposals that enable growth across Catalent’s biologics portfolio.
The Proposal Lead II works closely with Business Development (Sales), Program Management, and Operations to generate proposals, change orders, and statements of work (SOWs). The main responsibility of a Proposal Lead II is to develop the scope, pricing, and timeline of proposals for both new and ongoing drug substance programs, and ensure scopes are adequately reviewed before being delivered to the client.
The Role:
Lead the proposal process and liaise with Program Management, Business Development, Commercial Operations, clients, and key site stakeholders on the timely generation of pricing for proposals, change orders, and SOWs
Lead and/or actively participate in New Product Evaluation (NPE) and deal review meetings and support the site selection process
Hold and/or participate in technical review meetings with prospective clients and current partners to collect relevant information required to draft comprehensive proposals and review drafted proposals throughout the lifecycle of an opportunity
Lead internal technical review meetings to ensure alignment with site capabilities and capacity and transition proposals into executable SOWs
Prepare program summary slide decks to facilitate efficient communication of comprehensive proposals to relevant client stakeholders
Other duties as assigned
The Candidate:
Minimum of Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences, OR
Minimum 2 years of work experience in a related position and industry
Experience in or exposure to scientific, engineering, or operations roles within biologics highly preferred
Ability to understand scientific concepts and technical terminology and translate them into written proposals highly preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel (MS Project a plus)
Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work cross functionally
