<p><em><strong>Shift schedule posted below.</strong></em></p> <p>Join Lumen as a Production Technician to join our innovative algae production team. In this hands-on role, you’ll operate photobioreactor systems and support daily production activities including inoculations, transfers, harvests, sampling, and processing. You’ll work in a structured, clean production environment with a strong emphasis on food safety, personal safety, and adherence to written procedures and GMP.</p> <p>This position combines day-to-day reactor operations with cleaning, maintenance, documentation and recordkeeping, and close collaboration with Production and Quality Assurance teams to maintain compliance with Lumen’s QMS. </p> <p>If you’re mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and motivated by maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and product quality, we encourage you to apply.</p> <p><strong>Duties & Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li><u>Production Operations:</u> <ul> <li>Perform daily reactor operations, including inoculations, transfers, harvests, daily sampling, and processing.</li> <li>Assist with algae cultivation activities including inoculations, transfers, harvests, and sample collection.</li> <li>Utilize laboratory equipment such as pipettes, mechanical pipettors, balances, and spectrophotometers accurately and effectively.</li> </ul> </li> <li><u>Cleaning and Maintenance:</u> <ul> <li>Conduct regular cleaning, inspection, and basic/light maintenance of production equipment and areas.</li> <li>Perform and document daily and weekly cleaning tasks in production areas to maintain hygiene and operational standards.</li> </ul> </li> <li><u>Quality & Compliance:</u> <ul> <li>Strictly follow food safety and personal safety standards and protocols.</li> <li>Operate meticulously according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).</li> <li>Collaborate closely with the Production Head and Quality Assurance teams to schedule production operations and ensure adherence to Lumen’s quality management system (FSCC 22000).</li> </ul> </li> <li><u>Documentation and Recordkeeping:</u> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate and detailed records of daily sampling, testing, and batch/lot records.</li> <li>Document cleaning, inspection, and basic maintenance activities as required by quality and operational procedures.</li> </ul> </li> <li><u>Communication and Collaboration:</u> <ul> <li>Coordinate effectively with team members to maintain production schedules and compliance.</li> <li>Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, a team-oriented attitude, and a willingness to learn new processes.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications & Requirements:</strong></p> <ul> <li><u>Education and Experience:</u> <ul> <li>Work experience in commercial food or beverage production or an equivalent environment emphasizing cleanliness and safety.</li> <li>Coursework or background in biology or related scientific fields (preferred).</li> <li>Prior experience in environments governed by quality assurance systems (e.g., ISO 9001 or similar), including document control, batch/lot recordkeeping, documented operating procedures, cleaning, and quality testing (preferred).</li> <li>Experience in sanitary liquid handling, particularly in commercial beverage or food processing environments (preferred).</li> </ul> </li> <li><u>Skills and Attributes:</u> <ul> <li>Ability to understand and strictly follow detailed operational procedures and instructions.</li> <li>Mechanical competence, particularly in handling pumps, hoses, and sanitary equipment.</li> <li>Strong attention to detail; safety-minded with enthusiasm for maintaining a clean production environment.</li> <li>Good computer skills for documentation and data entry.</li> <li>Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative, team-oriented attitude, and a willingness to learn new processes.<strong> </strong></li> </ul> </li> </ul> <p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong>:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to stand for extended periods of time (2 or more hours)</li> <li>Ability to lift and carry up to 30 kg.</li> <li>Capable of safely manipulating hoses, air lines, and sanitary tri-clamps, including overhead operations.</li> <li>Capable of safely using step stools and ladders per company safety protocols.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Onsite Shift Schedule:</strong></p> <ul> <li>TBD</li> </ul> <p><strong>Benefits at Lumen Bioscience:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Stock bonus</li> <li>Health, Dental, and Vision premiums fully covered for employees by Lumen</li> <li>401k match up to 4%</li> <li>Industry-leading PTO policy, paid refresh days, and paid year-end holiday office closure</li> <li>Monthly wellness program to support your health and well-being</li> <li>Free onsite parking or public transportation subsidies</li> <li>Comprehensive parental leave policies</li> <li>Life insurance, short & long-term disability, and access to employee assistance programs</li> </ul> <p>At Lumen Bioscience, we foster a workplace built on collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.
