You will be a critical member of projects related to cost down, component end-of-life issues, field complaint resolution implementation, and more, in a very visible and fast-paced role.<br><br>Impact patient outcomes. Come for a job, stay for a career.<br> <br>Medtronic strives to enable earlier diagnosis, better treatment, faster complication-free recovery, and enhanced patient outcomes through less invasive surgical solutions. <br><br>The Medical Surgical business unit set the standard for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) by creating innovative surgical products and services that focus on obesity and diseases and conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, abdominal wall, pelvic region, and the head and neck.<br><br>This position will be based out of Medtronic’s campus in North Haven CT.<br><br>The RPE Product Engineer will work closely with the project management office, Medtronic design engineers, Plant operations within North Haven, CT and our contract manufacturing sites supporting the consumables products for HugoTM. Product Engineering will be able to dive in deep technically, and lead design change initiatives as well as participate in process work for the instrumentation products used in Robotic Surgery. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills are critical to success in this role, as is the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.<p></p><p>Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.</p><p></p><ul><li>Lead change development plan for design changes to Hugo</li><li>Key driver in product improvement plans</li><li>Consulted as R&amp;D on process improvement and validation work</li><li>Perform engineering testing and participate in test method development</li><li>Be central communication point for all project related activities</li><li>Work with engineers to develop a deep understanding of the technological underpinnings of the system</li><li>Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders / contract sites to drive change management</li><li>Lead investigation both for new project exploration and in response to CAPAs (corrective and preventive action)</li><li>Evaluate field returns and participate in complaint trending</li><li>Assess timeline impacts against project schedule in coordination with Project Management partners</li><li>Perform action item follow up and participate in SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) methodology for project planning and resource establishment</li><li>Create purchase requisitions</li><li>Deliver meeting minutes.</li></ul><p></p><p><b><span>Must Have: Minimum Requirements </span></b></p><p></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree required</li><li>Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.</li></ul><p> <br /><b>Nice to Have </b></p><p></p><ul><li>Degree in<b> </b>Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering specific or related Engineering.</li><li>Experience with highly regulated and/or safety-critical systems (medical device experience strongly preferred).</li><li>Root cause analysis tool knowledge/Problem solving management.</li><li>Outstanding verbal and written communication skills / ability to negotiate with cross functional team and influence decision making.</li><li>Strong leadership skills.</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast passed, cross disciplinary environment.</li><li>Ability to discuss technical details with engineering staff.</li><li>The ideal candidate will have strong engineering and product development skills.</li><li>Ability to create and track a project budget and timeline.</li><li>Knowledge of Project Management.</li></ul><p>For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>Physical Job Requirements</b></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this position, but they are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position. </p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">The physical demands described within the Responsibilities section of this job description are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
