If you are excited about a role but don't meet every bullet point, we encourage you to apply and join us to create the extraordinary.<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2>Job Summary</h2><p>The <b>Principal Applications Engineer</b> will be based in <b>San Jose, CA </b>reporting to the<b> Director, Global Field Application Engineering. </b>The <b>Applications Engineer</b> will be accountable for providing technical guidance and design-in help to customers on a post-sales basis to enable delivery of design, fabrication, and assembly goals, per customers’ expectations.</p><p></p><p><b>What a Typical Day Looks Like:</b></p><ul><li><p>Uses technical knowledge of products and associated development tools to assist customers on complex issues.</p></li><li><p>Conducts complex qualification/verification testing onsite (local labs) and coordinates closely with design engineering to solve any issues and deliver results on time. The onsite part can be 50-75% of the time (the rest of the time would be remote/work from home).</p></li><li><p>Develops and maintains close relationships to work very closely with internal engineering and business development teams.</p></li><li><p>Build close relationships with the customer technical teams to work and collaborate closely with them.</p></li><li><p>Provides technical expertise during product development by defining/conveying customer product needs and translating these needs into new product recommendations and specifications.</p></li><li><p>Reviews customer requirements, identifies and communicates potential issues and provides recommendations that will meet both the capabilities Flex and the specifications of the customer.</p></li><li><p>Creates clarity: identifies and clearly communicates existing and potential design issues both internally and externally.</p></li><li><p>Coordinates product integration efforts between component suppliers, Flex, and the customer.</p></li><li><p>Develops and presents technical seminars for customers and Field Application Engineers to promote employers&#39; manufacturing capabilities, services, available technologies, manufacturing process and quality.</p></li><li><p>Provides best in class, complex, technical assistance by answering and closing all customer and program management technical questions related to manufacturing capabilities including design, fabrication, and assembly abilities.</p></li><li><p>Defines initial project/product scope and prepares project plans to meet customers&#39; expectations.</p></li><li><p>Prepares detailed project plans by documenting customers&#39; requirements and incorporating design and manufacturing capabilities to meet customers’ expectations.</p></li><li><p>Prepares and maintains required documentation.</p></li><li><p>May be required to sit at customer site (locally) for prolonged periods of time.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>The Experience We’re Looking to Add to Our Team:</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor&#39;s degree in electrical engineering (master&#39;s preferred).</p></li><li><p>8&#43; years of design and/or applications engineering experience in the power conversion area (dc-dc conversion preferred).</p></li><li><p>Demonstrates detailed expertise in complex functional/technical area with a deep understanding of power electronics and power conversion considerations.</p></li><li><p>Is extremely comfortable in the lab environment and can expertly conduct verification/qualification testing for extended periods of time at the (local) lab/s.</p></li><li><p>Provides key technical support to mid-large customers promptly.</p></li><li><p>Executes and provides input to functional strategic plans and objectives for the group/site.</p></li></ul><p>EC37</p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left"><b>What you&#39;ll receive for the great work you provide:</b></p><ul><li>Full range of medical, dental, and vision plans</li><li>Life Insurance</li><li>Short-term and Long-term Disability</li><li>Matching 401(k) Contributions</li><li>Vacation and Paid Sick Time</li><li>Tuition Reimbursement</li></ul><p style="text-align:inherit"></p>Pay Range (Applicable to California)<h3></h3><h3></h3>$150,000.00 USD - $206,300.00 USD Annual<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2></h2><h2>Job Category</h2>Design, Process &amp; Technology Engineering<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p>Relocation: Not eligible<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><h2></h2><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:left">Is Sponsorship Available?</p>No<p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p><p style="text-align:inherit"></p>Flex is an Equal Opportunity Employer and employment selection decisions are based on merit, qualifications, and abilities.
