The facility is supported by skilled craft professionals and experienced supervisors who take pride in delivering dependable service to customers every day.</p><p></p><p><b>The Opportunity</b></p><p>The Plant Manager – Sheldon serves as the senior operational leader for the facility and is accountable for the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of the operation.</p><p></p><p>This role oversees all aspects of the site’s performance, including operations, safety, workforce leadership, financial results, and customer service. The Plant Manager ensures that the facility operates with clear priorities, disciplined routines, and consistent execution across all shifts.</p><p></p><p>This position is well suited for a leader who values operational ownership, strong team engagement, and the consistent delivery of customer commitments in a complex industrial environment.</p><p></p><p>Within the Marmon operating model, Plant Managers are expected to lead their facilities with a strong sense of ownership, balancing local decision-making with enterprise alignment to deliver safe, reliable performance for customers.</p><p></p><p><b>What You Will Lead</b></p><p>The Plant Manager provides overall leadership for the Sheldon facility and its operations, including railcar repair, cleaning, coating/paint, inspection, safety performance, and workforce management.</p><p></p><p>Working closely with supervisors and support functions, the Plant Manager establishes clear operating rhythms that align production priorities with customer commitments. Through visible leadership on the shop floor, the role reinforces consistent standards of safety, quality, and operational discipline across all shifts.</p><p></p><p>The Plant Manager serves as the primary operational contact for customers and works to ensure that service commitments are met with reliability and professionalism.</p><p></p><p><b>Leadership Approach</b></p><p>Successful leaders in this role maintain a strong presence in the operation and engage directly with supervisors and employees to ensure priorities are clearly understood and executed.</p><p></p><p>The Plant Manager creates an environment where supervisors and frontline employees are equipped to make sound operational decisions. Rather than relying solely on direction and escalation, the role focuses on building clarity, capability, and accountability throughout the organization so that problems are addressed at the appropriate level and operational discipline becomes part of the daily routine.</p><p></p><p>Clear expectations, preparation, and consistent follow-through are essential to maintaining safe operations and delivering predictable results for customers.</p><p></p><p><b>How Success Is Measured</b></p><p>Performance in this role is reflected in the facility’s ability to consistently deliver safe, reliable service while operating efficiently and within budget.</p><p>Key indicators include:</p><ul><li>Turnaround time consistency and schedule adherence</li><li>Safety performance and regulatory compliance</li><li>Labor productivity and cost performance</li><li>Customer service reliability and satisfaction</li><li>Workforce engagement and operational stability</li></ul><p></p><p><b>What You Bring</b></p><p>Successful candidates will bring a strong background in industrial operations leadership and experience managing multi-shift teams in demanding operational environments.</p><p></p><p>Typical qualifications include:</p><ul><li>10+ years of progressive leadership experience in heavy industrial, manufacturing, or technical service operations</li><li>Experience leading multi-shift operations with responsibility for safety, workforce leadership, and operational performance</li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver consistent operational results in complex environments</li><li>Experience in regulated repair or maintenance environments such as rail, automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace, or energy services is highly valued</li></ul><p><i>A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though equivalent operational leadership experience will be considered.</i></p><p></p><p><b>Working Environment</b></p><p>This role operates in an active industrial repair facility. Leaders are expected to maintain a visible presence in the operation and lead by example in safety and operational discipline.</p><p></p><p>The work environment may include exposure to heavy equipment, outdoor conditions, elevated work areas, and varying temperatures.
