Operations Engineer - Machining and Maintenance

Join our Tool Room department as an Operations Engineer at Stonehouse, Gloucestershire.

 Join our Tool Room team as an Operations Engineer - Machining and Maintenance and play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations through precision engineering, machining, tooling, and maintenance activities. Through the design, manufacture, maintenance, and continuous improvement of production equipment, jigs, fixtures, and tooling, you will help ensure reliable and efficient production processes that contribute to better health for more people.

Based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, this position is site-based and follows a working pattern of Monday to Thursday 7:30-16:30 and Friday 7:30-12:30. You will become part of a close-knit team of four colleagues and one apprentice who look forward to shaping the future together with you.

Grow With Us – Your Responsibilities

·        Support daily production operations through precision engineering, machining, and maintenance activities

·        Design and manufacture high-quality components for production jigs, fixtures, tooling, and equipment

·        Carry out precision machining and high-tolerance engineering work to meet production and quality requirements

·        Perform preventative and responsive maintenance on production equipment, jigs, fixtures, and tooling

·        Develop, implement, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with ISO 13485 requirements

·        Diagnose equipment and tooling faults and carry out repairs efficiently to minimise production downtime

·        Ensure all work is completed to the required quality, safety, and performance standards

·        Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment in accordance with company procedures

·        Support the Line Manager in achieving daily production targets and longer-term operational objectives

·        Follow the requirements of the company Quality Management System and promptly report quality-related issues to the Quality team

·        Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IVD regulations, and Good Documentation Practices

·        Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and other relevant teams to resolve technical and operational issues

·        Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, tooling performance, production efficiency, and working practices

 

What Will Convince Us

·        Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or engineering workshop environment, such as a mould shop, tool room, or precision engineering facility

·        Experience working on low-volume, prototype, research and development, or customised production projects

·        Proven machining experience with the ability to produce components to tight tolerances

·        Practical knowledge of a range of production equipment and experience carrying out equipment maintenance

·        Experience with the manufacture, repair, and maintenance of jigs, fixtures, tooling, or similar production aids

·        Understanding of preventative maintenance principles and maintenance documentation

·        Awareness of quality and regulatory requirements, ideally including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IVD regulations, and Good Documentation Practices

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills

·        Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

·        Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail

·        Good IT skills with the ability to maintain accurate electronic and written records

·        A proactive, flexible, and solutions-focused approach to supporting production requirements
