The MSL serves as the local medical voice of AstraZeneca in the disease area of interest, and builds a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. The MSL is an established field-based professional with strong scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development. <div><ul><li>Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs. </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings (e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices) </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists, urologists and key members of the MDT </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Lead peer to peer scientific/medical interactions </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barrier to optimal treatment and patient care or opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Communicate internally insights, findings, and propose actions to improve patient care and outcomes </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Discuss with KOLs data and educational gaps to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our R&D strategy to address patient needs </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Summarize appropriate clinical data into accurate and balanced information and clearly and concisely convey the most relevant information </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Stay current with scientific knowledge (e.g. marketed and emerging products, competitors’ activities, key healthcare trends, anatomy & physiology; pathophysiology in relevant disease states, and current therapeutic interventions related to disease states </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Collaborate with Clin ops on Ph3 trials from feasibility to execution of trials </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Discuss and follow-up on ESRs </li></ul>Essential Requirements:<div><ul><li>Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to work independently and in groups </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to navigate within a matrixial environment </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics and regulatory environment </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Excellent project management ability </li></ul></div><div><ul><li>Ability to travel (40-60% by car and plane domestic) </li></ul>Desireable:</div><ul><li>Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline </li></ul>Why AstraZeneca? However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles) or to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
