Upgrade to Pro — $25/moCSBio is a peptide contract manufacturing founded in 1993. Our initial products were a complete line of automated synthesizers for manufacturing and process development, with a focus on cGMP production. In 1994, we opened our custom peptide facility and began producing high quality compounds for research organizations and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. In 2004, we opened our peptide production facility in Menlo Park, CA and in 2014, we expanded our production capability through the addition of a new, state of the art building dedicated to cGMP peptide production. In 2017, we passed a FDA inspection and were recommended to be approved for commercial drug substance manufacturing. In 2023, we added additional cGMP clinical production capacity in Milpitas, CA.
Position Summary
We are looking for a hands-on, multi-faceted IT Infrastructure Specialist to take ownership of the day-to-day technology that keeps CSBio running. This is not a software development role. Instead, we need someone who is genuinely comfortable across the full breadth of small-to-mid-size company IT — from running ethernet through a wall, to programming a managed switch, to walking a new hire through their email setup.
The ideal candidate is a generalist who enjoys variety, takes ownership of problems, and can communicate clearly with a workforce that is highly skilled in chemistry and manufacturing. You will be one of the primary points of contact for IT issues across the company, and you will help shape the infrastructure as we continue to grow. CSBio is also in the middle of a digital transformation — moving 200+ paper SOPs, batch records, and lab forms onto a centralized data platform, and layering AI-powered automation on top. This role provides the infrastructure backbone that effort runs on, and supports the day-to-day operations to see it through.
Key Responsibilities
• Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot site-to-site and client VPN connections
• Program and maintain managed network switches (VLANs, port configurations, firmware updates)
• Pull, terminate, and test ethernet runs for new lab equipment, workstations, and office build-outs
• Maintain wireless infrastructure, including access points, controllers, and guest network segregation
• Monitor network performance and proactively address bottlenecks or reliability issues
• Administer Windows domain environment, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP
• Maintain corporate file servers, application servers, and supporting infrastructure (physical and virtual)
• Manage user accounts, permissions, security groups, and access controls in line with company policy
• Apply patches, updates, and security configurations across servers and endpoints
• Implement and verify backup routines for corporate data, file shares, and instrument controller PCs (HPLC, synthesizer, lyophilizer, balance, and similar systems)
• Coordinate with QA and manufacturing to ensure backups support data integrity and audit-readiness in a regulated (GMP) environment
• Maintain documentation of backup schedules, retention policies, and restoration procedures
• Periodically test restores to confirm recoverability
• Image, configure, and deploy laptops and desktops for new hires, including domain join, software installation, and user account setup
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot networked printers, scanners, and label printers across office and lab areas
• Provide responsive, patient helpdesk support to a workforce that is generally not IT-savvy — explaining issues in plain language and resolving recurring pain points
• Manage software licensing, device inventory, and asset tagging
• Onboard and offboard employees from a technology standpoint
• Respond to ad-hoc IT requests from across the company — from “my email isn’t working” to “we need a network drop in the new lab by Friday”
• Coordinate with outside vendors for ISP, telecom, copier, and specialized IT services
• Maintain documentation of network diagrams, server configurations, vendor contacts, and standard operating procedures
• Support facility-related IT projects in coordination with Facilities and Engineering teams
• Support on-premise deployment of AI/LLM tooling — hardware setup, GPU/server provisioning, network configuration, and ongoing uptime
• Provide end-user troubleshooting as staff transition from paper to digital workflows
• Assist with the physical scanning and digitization of paper SOPs, batch records, and lab forms — operating scanners, configuring OCR settings, and ensuring scanned files meet quality and naming standards
