The Opportunity
This position works out of our Coyol de Alajuela location in the Structural Division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.
As the Microbiologist I, you’ll be supervise the microbiology function, providing direction consistent with the Applicable Quality System. Applies microbiological concepts to the manufacturing process of a medical device and understands process monitoring/metrics to maintain microbiological quality of the final device. This position provides support to the sterilization processes, including but not limited to training and verification of sterilization runs.

Provides Facility Microbiological Support
Documentation
Maintains understanding of applicable standards and applies them to qualifications and test methods.
Technical Training
Authority to sign off Qualifications, DDAs, NCMRs, COs, FMEAs, PDP forms.
Shift B: Monday - Friday 3:30pm - 10:00pm and Saturday 8:00am - 3:36pm.
Required Qualifications
0-2 years of working experience on similar roles.
Proficiency in computer applications (MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint).
Articulates microbiology technical concepts well.
Must have knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP's), Bacteriology and use of lab equipment such as Laminar Flow Hoods, as Autoclaves, Incubators, pH meter, analytical balance, etc.
Advance Commands of English / Required
Preferred Qualifications
1+ year experience in a medical device/pharmaceutical, microbiology laboratory, or related industry, preferred.
Troubleshooting skills in complex situations outside of routine out of specification issues, such as sterilization or contamination issues is desired.
Knowledge of industrial steam sterilization and water systems is preferred.
