Job Description:
About the Position
The Medical Science Liaison/Sr. Medical Science Liaison (MSL/Sr. MSL) – Hematology serves as a field-based scientific expert responsible for building trusted peer-to-peer relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals (HCPs), researchers, and other healthcare stakeholders in Malaysia.
The MSL/Sr. MSL provides high-quality scientific and clinical support related to BeOne Medicines’ hematology portfolio and pipeline. The role focuses on scientific exchange, medical education, insight gathering, evidence generation support, and cross-functional collaboration to advance patient care and support organizational objectives.
The successful candidate is expected to maintain deep therapeutic area expertise in hematology, demonstrate strong scientific communication capabilities, and contribute strategically to medical affairs initiatives in Malaysia.
Main Responsibilities
1. Scientific Engagement and KOL Management
Develop and maintain strong scientific relationships with hematologists, oncologists, pharmacists, researchers, and relevant healthcare stakeholders across Malaysia.
Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions on disease areas, clinical data, treatment landscapes, and BeOne Medicines products and pipeline.
Identify, map, and prioritize KOLs and emerging experts within hematology.
Respond to unsolicited scientific and medical inquiries in a compliant and balanced manner.
Facilitate scientific exchange between external experts and internal medical teams.
Maintain high standards of scientific credibility and ethical engagement.
2. Medical and Scientific Support
Provide scientific support for marketed products, pipeline compounds, and disease state education.
Deliver accurate and up-to-date scientific presentations to healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
Support the medical review and localization of scientific materials where appropriate.
Stay current with developments in hematology, including clinical guidelines, competitor data, treatment pathways, and emerging evidence.
Attend and summarize key scientific congresses, advisory boards, and medical meetings.
3. Evidence Generation and Research Support
Identify opportunities for local evidence generation, investigator-initiated studies (IIS), real-world evidence (RWE), registries, and collaborative research.
Support feasibility assessments and site identification for clinical trials and research initiatives.
Facilitate interactions between investigators and internal stakeholders.
Gather clinical insights and unmet medical needs to support medical strategy development.
Contribute to publication planning and scientific dissemination activities.
4. Medical Education and Stakeholder Engagement
Support the planning and execution of medical education initiatives, scientific symposia, and advisory boards.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance disease awareness and clinical knowledge.
Assist in identifying educational gaps and developing scientifically appropriate engagement plans.
Support patient-centric initiatives and collaborations with professional societies where appropriate.
5. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and Clinical Operations teams.
Provide field insights to support strategic planning and medical initiatives.
Contribute to annual medical plans and tactical execution.
Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, local regulations, and industry codes.
Qualification Required:
Education Required:
Medical Degree (MBBS/MD), Pharmacy Degree (BPharm/MPharm/PharmD), PhD, or other relevant life sciences qualification.
Advanced clinical, scientific, or research training in hematology, oncology, or related therapeutic areas.(Preferred)
Experience
Required:
Minimum 2 years of experience(MSL)/4 years of experience(Sr. MSL) in Medical Affairs, clinical practice, research, or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in oncology or hematology is strongly preferred.
Experience engaging with healthcare professionals and scientific stakeholders.
Preferred:
Prior experience as an MSL.
Familiarity with the Malaysian healthcare ecosystem and hematology treatment landscape.
Experience supporting clinical research, RWE, or publication activities.
Travel:
Willingness to travel regularly within Malaysia. Occasional regional or international travel may be required.
