The Manager, Maintenance Operations will lead a team of maintenance technicians and engineers to support the business objectives of Insulet’s manufacturing plant located in Irvine, CA. This position will be the owner of the plant’s equipment and facility maintenance programs in addition to being an integral part of the plant’s management team and safety committee.
Responsibilities
Owns preventative and breakdown maintenance operations for production equipment such that performances meet or exceed baseline capabilities.
Develop and manage the plant’s maintenance strategy and budget. Focus on long-term planning, resource allocation, and performance metrics (OEE, MTBF, MTTR).
Ensure all facilities preventative maintenance(s) are scheduled. Is site point person for coordination with Insulet Facilities – Site contact for subcontractors, repairs, etc.
Helps set maintenance department goals, and manages a team of maintenance technicians and engineers including but not limited to setting daily priorities, establishing responsibilities, formal performance evaluations, professional development, ensuring production coverage during absence requests, set etc.
Manage EAM system, ensuring accurate creation, scheduling, and tracking of preventative and corrective maintenance work orders.
Responsible for production equipment O.E.E. ensuring optimal efficiency and reliability by making sure equipment is sufficient to meet production and site needs.
Collaborates with other departments to forecast and plan for maintenance needs and upgrades. Utilize data and helps optimize data gathering systems to accurately depict issues on equipment.
Use processes such as DMAIC, Lean, and Six Sigma to identify, root cause, and drive a continuous improvement culture to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
Manages equipment and safety inspections, and generates emergency, corrective, and/or preventative work orders as needed.
Support equipment and facility upgrades with both hands-on support and allocation of managed resources.
Drive continuous improvement of safety programs, maintenance programs, troubleshooting process, and machine performance.
Ensure spare inventory for all equipment is sufficient for production requirements.
Participate as a member of the Safety Committee. Own select/assigned safety programs and take an active role in ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, accident prevention, accident investigation, safety training, and compliance with environmental rules and regulations.
Creating and/or maintaining documentation related to areas of responsibility. Responsible for developing a cohesive high-performing team. Builds team culture and sets expectations on performance and behaviors. Partners with various centers of expertise on strategies promoting positive work environment.

Advanced mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problem solving skills, ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
Proficient with computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, SAP, etc.

Ability to read and understand government regulations.

Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in engineering (or related discipline) required.
Minimum 10 years of experience with maintenance, repair, and improvement of automated manufacturing equipment and building facilities.
Minimum 3+ years of management experience.
Additional Information
The position is in-person at Insulet’s Irvine, CA office.
Travel is estimated at <5% but will flex depending on business need.
