Legal & Compliance Specialist (d/f/m)

Our Legal & Compliance team in Portugal is a dynamic and collaborative group focused on navigating complex regulatory landscapes through innovative and strategic problem-solving.
As a Legal & Compliance Specialist, you will be a foundational partner in positioning our business initiatives for long-term, sustainable success.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Legal & Compliance Director, you will provide strategic counsel and compliance oversight to ensure the legal security of the company. Your scope is comprehensive, covering corporate law, IVD/medical device regulations, and data privacy. Key areas of focus include:
Compliance Program Management: Designing, implementing, and auditing comprehensive compliance programs to effectively mitigate critical organizational risks. This includes ensuring robust compliance with all applicable laws, industry codes (including Medtech), and internal policies.
Contractual Excellence: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, ensuring "Legal by Design" is at the heart of every contract, as well as managing external legal counsel relationships.
Data Privacy (GDPR): Managing compliance with GDPR and health data laws, actively integrating "Privacy by Design" principles into all relevant initiatives.
Proactive Project Engagement: Serving as a proactive advisor on cross-functional projects, ensuring initiatives are built with a "compliance by design" approach to meet business goals within legal and ethical boundaries.
Governance & Continuous Improvement: Actively contributing to the enhancement of Compliance Policies and internal governance frameworks to ensure resilience against regulatory scrutiny and external audits.
Regulatory Intelligence: Staying ahead of evolving healthcare laws, data privacy regulations, and anti-corruption standards to anticipate and address changes and to keep the organization resilient.
Who You Are
You are a proactive, self-motivated lawyer who thrives in fast-paced environments and believes that high ethical standards are a prerequisite for business excellence. You have:
A Law Degree from a recognized university. Admission to the Bar and a strong understanding of Portuguese healthcare regulations and compliance standards are mandatory.
Relevant professional legal experience, preferably acquired within a top-tier law firm or an in-house corporate legal department within the healthcare sector (preferably) or other similarly compliance-intensive regulated markets.
High level of integrity, professionalism, and a proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in fast-paced environments.
Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities. Exceptional organizational skills, time management, and meticulous attention to detail, enabling effective management of multiple priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (Portuguese and English), with the ability to effectively engage with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
While we embrace a hybrid work model, proximity to the Roche office in Lisbon, Amadora, is required to ensure you can comfortably commute.
