In this role, you’ll partner with engineers and scientists to develop, execute, and continuously improve <b>functional performance and failure-focused measurement methods</b> for <b>lab plasticware and consumables </b>(e.g., tubes, vials, plates, bottles, carboys, and related lab plastics).</p><p></p><p>You’ll help ensure products are <b>fit-for-purpose</b> in real lab and shipping conditions by designing test approaches that evaluate <b>performance, robustness, degradation, and failure modes</b> (e.g., leak performance, thread/closure integrity, fit testing, stress cracking, chemical compatibility, temperature/pressure exposure, packaging integrity, and other related functional requirements). This is not an equipment maintenance role; you’ll use metrology and test systems to generate <b>reliable, traceable, decision-ready data</b>, supported by disciplined documentation and strong cross-functional communication.</p><p><br /><b><u>LOCATION</u></b>: On-site in Rochester, NY. Relocation assistance is NOT provided. </p><ul><li>Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.</li><li>Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.</li></ul><p> <br /><u><b>REQUIREMENTS</b></u>:</p><ul><li>4+ years hands-on experience supporting <b>product development, sustaining, reliability, or failure investigations </b>for<b> plastics consumables</b> or similar polymer-based products (e.g., molded components, packaging, fluid containers, closures)</li><li>Preferred Fields of Study: <b>Mechanical Engineering, Materials/Polymer Science, Chemistry, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering</b>, or related technical field</li><li>Training/certifications in metrology, quality, or laboratory calibration practices preferred (e.g., <b>NCSL, ASQ</b>, or equivalent formal training)</li><li>Experience developing and running <b>functional / failure-focused test methods</b>, knowledge of the industry and best practices (experience with one or more is preferred):<ul><li><b>Leak / seal / closure performance</b>, pressure or vacuum integrity, thread engagement/torque behavior</li><li><b>Fit/function testing</b> across mating components and tolerance stack-ups</li><li><b>Stress, creep, fatigue, drop/impact, or crack initiation</b> (incl. chemical stress cracking)</li><li><b>Chemical compatibility/resistance</b> and exposure testing (solvents, buffers, disinfectants, lab reagents)</li><li><b>Temperature / environmental conditioning</b> and performance verification after exposure</li><li><b>Packaging integrity</b> and distribution/shipping simulation support; sterility-related functional requirements (as applicable)</li></ul></li><li>Working knowledge of common lab plasticware product types and use environments (e.g., <b>tubes/vials, plates, bottles/carboys, filtration-related disposables, cell culture plastics</b>)</li><li>Experience applying disciplined measurement practices: <b>metrological traceability</b>, calibration status control, <b>measurement system analysis (MSA)</b>, and fit-for-purpose reporting (ISO/IEC 17025 concepts / accreditation-aligned practices a plus)</li><li>Experience with <b>ERP systems </b>and <b>controlled technical documentation</b> (procedures, test methods, reports, traceability records)</li><li>Ability to read and interpret <b>mechanical drawings</b>, specifications, and product requirements; translate them into practical test methods and acceptance criteria</li><li>Proficient in <b>Microsoft Suite</b></li><li>Experience mentoring and training technical team members</li><li>Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities with a systematic, detail-oriented approach</li><li>Ability to lift up to <b>45 lbs</b> and work safely in a laboratory environment (including chemical handling expectations per site practices)</li><li>Strong communication skills in both technical and non-technical contexts; strong technical writing skills</li><li>Proficiency in English required; additional languages beneficial</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team</li></ul><p></p><p>We offer competitive remuneration, annual incentive plan bonus scheme, healthcare, company 401k, and a range of employee benefits!
