Title: AI Agentic Lead This position is based in our Campbell, California offices. This position is on-site & full-time Why Imperative Care? At Imperative Care, we are developing novel robotic-assisted technologies and interventional capabilities that will forever change the disparate outcomes of ischemic stroke – a disease that impacts close to a million people a year in the U.S., and 10 million worldwide.  Not only is Imperative Care Robotics changing the way stroke is treated, but also bringing this treatment to the greater population who is currently without. We are actively building a team who is focused on developing novel solutions for this complex disease – a disease in which one in four adults will face in their lifetime. What You’ll Do We are seeking an AI Lead to build and drive the adoption of AI within organization. This role will initially be hands-on-designing, building, and piloting AI solutions—while laying the foundation for a scalable AI capability. Over time, this individual will help define and lead the team, processes, and standards needed to expand AI across R&D, aligning all efforts with the broader strategic vision of the organization.<ul><li>Design, build, and deploy initial AI pilot projects</li><li>Prototype quickly Agents using modern AI tools (LLMs, agents, automation frameworks)</li><li>Implement prompt engineering strategies and chain-of-thought reasoning patterns</li><li>Validate value through measurable outcomes and iterate rapidly</li><li>Build and implement AI agents and intelligent workflows for R&D use cases</li><li>Implement sophisticated context management systems to maintain agent state across multi-turn interactions and complex workflows</li><li>Build robust memory systems including short-term working memory and long-term knowledge retrieval</li><li>Create tool integration frameworks allowing agents to interact with external APIs, databases, and services</li><li>Develop agent orchestration systems for multi-agent collaboration and task delegation</li><li>Ensure solutions are designed for scalability from the outset</li><li>Partner with IT and data teams to ensure required data access and infrastructure</li><li>Define requirements for data pipelines, tooling, and governance</li><li>Ensure solutions meet compliance and security expectations</li><li>Work across R&D, IT, Legal, and other teams to enable adoption</li><li>Translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders</li><li>Drive alignment and momentum across functions</li></ul><ul><li>Define roles, skills, and structure for an emerging AI team</li><li>Contribute to hiring and onboarding of future team members</li><li>Establish processes, standards, and ways of working for AI development</li><li>Transition from individual contributor to team lead over time</li><li>Act as a change agent within R&D to drive AI adoption</li><li>Educate teams and integrate AI into day-to-day workflows</li><li>Promote a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making</li></ul>What You’ll Bring: <ul><li> 4–8 years of experience in AI/ML, data science, or applied AI roles</li><li>Hands-on experience building AI solutions (including generative AI and/or agents)</li><li>Experience delivering pilot projects or proof-of-concepts end-to-end</li><li>Strong understanding of data workflows and AI tooling</li><li>Cloud infrastructure hands on knowledge</li><li>Demonstrated ability or interest in mentoring or leading others</li><li>Ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders</li><li>Strong builder mindset with ability to execute independently</li><li>Pragmatic and outcome-focused, with a bias toward action</li><li>Comfortable evolving from hands-on contributor to team leader</li><li>Effective communicator across technical and business audiences</li></ul>Employee Benefits include a stake in our collective success with stock options, bonus, competitive salaries, a 401k plan, health benefits, generous PTO, and a parental leave program.
