This is a rare opportunity to design, build, and scale new formulation and process development laboratories within a global CDMO environment. You’ll play a central role in defining how we develop drug products in the future and which technologies we use—from early-stage innovation through to launch. As Lab Head in our R&D organization, you will: • Build and lead new pharmaceutical development labs (infrastructure, workflows, technologies, and team capabilities) • Drive formulation and process development strategies across multiple modalities • Lead first-in-human development and subsequent platform formulation approaches that enable smooth progression to clinical phases and launch • Design and execute: o Quality by Design experiments o Excipient compatibility studies o Primary packaging selection • Advance modern CMC approaches, including: o Process Analytical Technology (PAT) o Process modeling, via DEM and first principle approaches • Evaluate and implement advanced formulation technologies: o Amorphous solid dispersions (SDD, HME), incl. solvent and polymer screenings o Mikronisation and nanonisation approaches • Collaborate cross-functionally with analytical, manufacturing, and project teams • Contribute to building a culture of innovation, scientific rigor, and knowledge sharing What makes this role unique? • Build from scratch: Shape labs, technologies, and ways of working • High visibility: Direct impact on Siegfried’s global development capabilities • Scientific freedom: Explore and implement cutting-edge formulation technologies • International scope: Work across Switzerland and Spain in a collaborative environmentYour Profile:What are we looking for? • PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Technology, or closely related field • Proven experience in pharmaceutical development (at originator or large CDMO) • Strong expertise in CMC development, especially formulation and process development • Hands-on experience with: - Oral solid dosage form development for first in human and/or launch - QbD, PAT, and modern development principles • A builder mindset: you thrive in creating new capabilities rather than maintaining existing ones • GMP experience is a plus but not required • Strong leadership potential and collaborative spirit • Fluency in English; additional local language skills are a plus Your Benefits: What do we offer?
