Description
<p>The Lab Manager will work closely with both the research and administration teams, and will<br>be responsible for managing the daily operations of the lab. The Lab Manager will develop<br>and implement processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste and increase productivity.<br>Specific activities will include:<br>● Optimize and maintain processes to manage common lab supplies, stock inventory,<br>and order lab consumables and labware<br>● Prepare and maintain custom reagent stocks (e.g. chemically competent bacterial<br>cells)<br>● Ensure appropriate and timely common lab equipment purchasing, integration and<br>services, including price negotiation, purchasing, installation, calibration, preventative<br>maintenance, repairs, service contract renewal, and software and hardware upgrades<br>● Maintain equipment management system, including updating databases when<br>equipment is installed, modified, replaced or decommissioned<br>● Work with Accounting to tag all lab assets<br>● Work with vendors or safety consultants regarding LockOut/TagOut procedures<br>● Oversee planning and set-up of new lab equipment and lab spaces<br>● Maintain order and cleanliness of lab spaces and equipment<br>● Responsible for shipping of biological material both national and international.<br>● Coordinate fridge and freezer storage organization and maintenance<br>● Oversee lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of chemicals and<br>hazardous materials and enforcing PPE policy and lab safety rules<br>● Oversee the environmental health and safety (EHS) program in the lab, assist safety<br>professionals and licensing agencies, and interface with building facility<br>representatives for facilities-related matters<br>● Develop, implement, and manage record keeping systems for service contracts,<br>MTAs, and other documentation<br>● Fulfill other tasks as directed by the manager to assist research teams with relevant<br>project needs<br><br>Requirements:<br>● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology or a related field, and 5+ years of relevant<br>experience working in lab management or scientific operations<br>● Experience with procurement of lab common supplies, lab inventory management<br>system, and working with external vendors and CROs is required<br>● Expertise in contract/quotation negotiations, shipping/receiving is required<br>● Knowledge of lab safety and OSHA regulations and safety training is required;<br>Experience with permitting, training, and reporting requirements as set forth by local,<br>state, and federal regulations is preferred<br>● Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are required<br>● Experience of optimizing and centralizing processes across groups is preferred<br>● Experience with 5”S” or Lean principles is preferred<br>● Experience with molecular cloning, bacterial and cell culture, protein expression and<br>purification is a plus<br> </p>
