Project Outline <ul><li>You will be working in our international, friendly Pharm Sci, PDT R&D team team / department </li><li>You will be assigned to support a workstream of a major project dealing with increased API concentration in drug substance / drug product using different technologies.</li><li>Using your theoretical knowledge of bioprocessing, protein purification, statistics and rheology, you will help to develop, analyze, investigate and also document and create reports on a drug substance production process.</li><li>The planned output of the internship will be a technology evaluation to reach high concentrated protein solutions. </li><li>The earliest start date for the internship will be (April, 2026) with an anticipated length of 6 months </li></ul><h2></h2><h2>What you bring to Takeda: </h2><ul><li>Curiosity and collaboration skills will ensure you effectively support projects and make a valuable impact </li><li>Active enrollment at a university or a university of applied sciences or a recent graduate (within the last 12 months) in life science, biotechnology, material science, engineering, (bio-)physics master’s program </li><li>Using appropriate communication, you will provide updates and reports on your activities, essential for steering your work and integrating into the team </li><li>Must be authorized to work in Austria without the need for additional immigration sponsorship, housing allowance or relocation requirements. </li><li>Preferably skills in downstream processing, statistics and enthusiasm for process optimization </li></ul>What you can learn: <ul><li>Learn about the exciting pharma industry and work in an international environment with colleagues from all around the globe </li><li>We value teamwork and diversity at Takeda, so there are many opportunities for sharing ideas and observations in collaborative settings such as meetings, brainstorming sessions or simple one-on-one conversations </li><li>Designing a comparative study across different technologies</li><li>Running and optimizing DSP unit operations</li><li>Advancing a process beyond the current state of the art and shifting the border of what can be done for a particular target</li><li>Additionally, you will gain valuable experience in </li><li>TFF process development (membrane selection, flux/TMP optimization, fouling control, scale-up principles)</li><li>Buffer exchange & diafiltration strategy (yield/recovery tracking, conductivity/pH targets, hold-time considerations)</li><li>Precipitation & resolubilization screening (salt/pH windows, mixing order, filtration/clarification, resolubilization kinetics)</li><li>Experimental planning with statistical methods (DoE) (screening/optimization designs, multivariate analysis, risk-based parameter selection)</li><li>Data analysis, modelling & visualization (Excel/JMP/Minitab and/or Python; mass balance, yield and uncertainty calculations)</li><li>Cross-functional collaboration (process sciences, analytics, QC/QA, manufacturing; technical reporting and presentations)</li><li>Lab safety & good laboratory practices (risk assessments, safe chemical handling, waste streams, aseptic technique basics)</li></ul>At Takeda, we are transforming the pharmaceutical industry through our R&D-driven market leadership and being a values-led company.
