Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.
Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?
As an intern, you will contribute to a feasibility study focused on evaluating a microgrid solution for the Roche Costa Rica campus to enhance energy resilience, sustainability, and cost efficiency. The project aims to assess current energy consumption, identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, and evaluate how renewable energy integration and advanced control technologies can support the site’s Net Carbon Zero ambitions. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help analyze load profiles and critical loads, assess technical and economic feasibility for a microgrid, identify energy reduction opportunities, and contribute to the evaluation of environmental and financial impacts. Your work will support Roche’s sustainability strategy by enabling more informed clean energy investment decisions, reducing operational emissions, and strengthening the long-term resilience of site operations. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to work on a real-world energy transition project with tangible sustainability impact.
Assess current energy consumption, load profiles, and critical loads to identify opportunities for integrating renewable energy sources.
Identify energy reduction opportunities by optimizing existing controls and proposing new efficiency measures.
Develop an action plan to implement improvements focused on reducing energy consumption and operational costs.
Conduct a technical assessment for the implementation of a microgrid, evaluating feasibility, resilience, and operational benefits.
Analyze cost–benefit scenarios to support decision-making on energy investments.
Evaluate the environmental impact of proposed solutions, including emissions associated with energy generation.
You are currently enrolled at a university, preferably in the field of Electrical Engineering or Electromechanical Engineering and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.
Furthermore you are
Knowledgeable in energy systems and load behavior, with a strong interest in energy engineering
Proficient in Python for data analysis and automation, and comfortable using statistical methods to interpret data and identify trends
Familiar with environmental management concepts, including emissions associated with energy generation, and with cost-benefit analysis for technical solutions
An innovative and proactive team player who communicates clearly and collaborates effectively across disciplines
Fluent in Spanish and have at least intermediate English skills
If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.
The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
