Look no further.</span></p><p></p><p></p><div><p><b>JOB PURPOSE</b></p><p>The major focus for the Intern – Interbody R&D will be to support either implant or instrument designs for a next generation cervical, interbody, or fixation system within the spinal implants product development group. You will focus on instrument design, modeling, and drawing creation as well as participate in weekly core team meetings and surgeon calls or on-site meetings. Additionally, you will support bench top testing and cadaver lab(s) to evaluate designs and test instruments and implants in simulated surgical settings.</p><p></p><p><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</b></p><p>The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties and tasks as needed and assigned.</p></div><p></p><div><ul><li>Work within a project team to contribute original concepts for new product development</li><li>Provide weekly progress status updates to the project lead</li><li>Generating engineering models and prints based on marketing<span> i</span>nputs</li><li>Collaborating with the machine shop and outside suppliers to generate<span> p</span>rototypes</li><li>Completing verification testing to prove out design<span> o</span>utputs</li><li>Completing validation testing in a cadaveric lab to confirm user<span> r</span>equirements</li><li>Generating test protocols and reports to document test methods and<span> r</span>esults</li></ul><p></p><p><b>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</b></p><p>The requirements listed below are representative of the education, knowledge, skill and/or ability required for this position.</p><p></p><p><u>Education/Certifications</u>:</p><ul><li>HS Diploma or equivalent required</li><li>Enrollment in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program</li><li>Junior or Senior level standing, or graduate student</li><li>3.0 GPA</li></ul><p></p><p><u>Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities</u>:</p><ul><li>A basic understanding of CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or NX)</li><li>Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel)</li><li>Engineering discipline of study in Mechanical, Biomechanical, or Bioengineering</li></ul><p></p><p><b>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</b></p><p>The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.</p><p></p><p><u>Education/Certifications</u>:</p><ul><li>Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering Major from an ABET accredited program</li></ul><p></p><p><u>Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities</u>:</p><ul><li>CAD modeling experience with Creo</li></ul><p></p><p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS</p><p>The physical requirements listed in this section include but are not limited to the motor/physical abilities, skills, and/or demands required of the position in order to successfully undertake the essential duties and responsibilities of this position.
