Description

Be one of the drivers behind our IT Integration capability in Bavarian Nordic

Are you motivated by understanding business processes, translating them into robust integration designs, and shaping how systems work together across a complex landscape?

Would you like to help drive a significant expansion and maturation of our enterprise integration capabilities in a regulated pharma environment?

And do you thrive on collaborating with process owners, IT business partners, system owners and architects - acting as a knowledge hub for how business processes are enabled through integration across SaaS and on-prem applications?

Then you might be the Integration Solution Architect we are looking for.

Become part of an exciting IT landscape expansion
You will join a team of four dedicated specialists within IT Integration Services, playing a key role in expanding and maturing our enterprise integration platform and the integration capabilities around it.

As Integration Solution Architect, you will work closely with our Integration Lead and Integration Services Manager to understand business needs, and define integration solutions that are scalable, secure, and fit-for-purpose. You will also collaborate closely with external integration advisory consultants and internal stakeholders across IT and the business.

You will report to the Manager of IT Enterprise Architecture.

The integration landscape of today
Bavarian Nordic operates an enterprise integration platform built on Microsoft Azure with several business-critical integrations already in production. We are continuously expanding and standardizing the platform to meet the documentation, quality, and data integrity requirements of a regulated pharma environment.

Further several other “integration” technologies are used such as EDI, SaaS out-of-the-box, legacy and many others.

Over the coming years, we expect many new integrations as we upgrade and expand key systems in our landscape (e.g., ERP, LIMS and CRM). This role will be central in ensuring that integrations are designed with a clear understanding of the business processes, applications, data flows, technology, ownership, and operational needs related to the integration solutions in question.

In the short to medium term your responsibilities in integration projects will include:

To take a key role in analyzing and designing integrations outside of the central IT Azure Integration Platform

Take responsibility to further analyze, design and architect the solution in the pare-analysis phase

To ensure that the solution is carried out as designed

To ensure non-functional requirements are designed in from the start: security, reliability, resilience, performance, auditability, and operational readiness

To define solution architectures and integration approaches (API, messaging, events, batch) based on clear trade-offs and fit-for-purpose principles

In the longer term we see the role developing and include Collaboration with the Enterprise Architect to ensure alignment with strategy and governance overall, by creating the as-is and to-be picture of the current integration landscape as well as a viable roadmap in collaboration with relevant colleagues.

There will be a need to drive a consistent architectural foundation: Reference designs, integration patterns, decision records, and architecture documentation that can withstand a regulated environment and establish/enforce integration principles and standards (e.g., contract discipline, security boundaries, observability).

Eventually this role will own architecture governance for integrations: reviews, exceptions, risk decisions, and ensuring designs align with enterprise direction and platform strategy and contribute to roadmap and platform evolution by identifying cross-cutting improvements, reducing complexity, and enabling reuse across domains.

We are looking for a Solution Architect who complements the team with strong capabilities in business and system analysis and the ability to shape integration solutions across an enterprise landscape. Ideally, you bring:

Proven experience in Solution Architecture with strong architecture documentation discipline (clear artefacts, decision rationale, and traceable designs) and comfort operating with quality and compliance expectations in regulated environments

Strong business and system analysis capability: you can map process reality, turn ambiguity into decisions, and create alignment across stakeholders

Deep understanding of integration paradigms and their trade-offs (API-first/contract-first, event-driven patterns, messaging, orchestration vs. choreography, eventual consistency, idempotency and correlation)

Security and operational mindset: designs that support least privilege, segregation of duties, monitoring/alerting, incident readiness, and lifecycle management

Familiarity with architecture methods and standards is a plus (e.g., TOGAF/ArchiMate concepts, ADR practices, and designing with the intent of ISO 27001 / service management principles)

As a person, you are curious, structured, and quality-driven. You enjoy working at the intersection of business processes and technology, and you take pride in creating solutions that are stable, maintainable, well-documented, and aligned with enterprise standards.

What’s in it for you?
You’ll have a hands-on role in building and shaping a modern Azure-based integration platform, working closely with skilled specialists and key stakeholders across the business.

The position offers strong technical depth in C#/.NET and Azure Integration Services, exposure to complex enterprise systems, and the opportunity to grow as a specialist while contributing to a platform with real business impact.

Ready to take the next step in your career?

Please submit your CV. A cover letter is not required. We look forward to hearing from you.

We kindly ask that recruitment agencies refrain from contacting us regarding this position.

Founded in 1994, we have +30 years of experience developing life-saving vaccines.
