Come explore Novanta.</p><p></p><p></p><p>This position is part of Novanta Advanced Surgery (AS), which develops devices and accessories that enable doctors to operate using minimally invasive techniques. We produce video management systems, insufflators, medical pumps, and tubing, making diagnosis and treatment easier for everyone.</p><p></p><p><b>Summary</b></p><p>The Hardware Technician will play a key role in supporting development activities within our Berlin R&D office. This position is responsible for HW related work activities, including equipment maintenance and compliance with safety and quality standards. The role also involves supporting prototype builds and assisting engineers with testing and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position requiring strong organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions.</p><p></p><p><b>Primary Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Perform precise soldering of electronic components (SMD and THT) on PCBs.</li><li>Assemble and crimp cables according to technical specifications.</li><li>Conduct electrical measurements using tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.</li><li>Support hardware prototyping and testing.</li><li>Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate measurements.</li><li>Document test results, procedures, and anomalies in a clear and structured manner.</li><li>Ensure compliance with ESD protection and lab safety standards.</li><li>Collaborate with HW, FW and System engineers to support development and troubleshooting.</li></ul><p></p><p></p><p><b>General Tasks</b></p><ul><li>Adhere strictly to all quality, occupational safety, and environmental standards in daily work.</li><li>Ensure compliance with ISO standards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies</b></p><ul><li>Successful completion of an apprenticeship (e.g., <b>Electrician</b>, <b>Mechatronics Technician</b>) or a <b>Techniker Schule</b> degree.</li><li>Alternatively, a <b>Bachelor’s degree in Electronics</b> or partially completed university studies in a related field.</li><li><b>Soldering skills are essential</b> — experience may come from formal training or self-taught, hobby-level work.</li><li>Basic understanding of <b>analog, digital, and embedded electronics</b> design principles.</li><li>Strong hands-on abilities in <b>electronics prototyping</b>, <b>soldering</b>, and the use of laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and signal generators.</li><li>Excellent organizational and analytical skills, paired with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively to collaborative team efforts.</li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a cooperative and positive team attitude.</li><li><b>Fluency in English</b> (written and spoken) is a must.</li><li><b>Good to fluent German skills</b> are highly beneficial</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Physical Requirements</b></p><ul><li>Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer</li><li>Ability to use vision to read computer screens and read printed materials.</li></ul><p></p><p>#LI-UK1</p><p>#Berlin</p><p></p><p></p><p>Novanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
