General Description:

The Global Scientific Lead, Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacometrics (CPP) is a senior level position with expectation to provide scientific oversight, management, and leadership across the global organization. The position will report to the head of CPP.  They will be responsible for developing and executing clinical pharmacology and pharmacometric strategies for novel small molecules and biologics assets in the company portfolio, and across solid tumor and heme assets, and identifying new opportunities for CPP impact across the portfolio. They will also provide senior scientific leadership for: core CPP deliverables (characterizing pharmacokinetic profiles; dose selection justification; assessing drug/food interaction potential; characterizing QT prolongation potential, etc.). This will be accomplished by leading emerging quantitative techniques (AI/ML) and working in close partnership with other key functions such as Clinical Development, Biometrics, Biomarkers, Regulatory, CMC etc. The position will also represent CPP leadership at governance meetings, foster new collaborations, and lead business development opportunities. Communication skills at all levels of interaction must be outstanding.

Essential Functions of the job:

Identify novel areas for CPP impact across the global organization, accelerate implementation of AI/ML tools for delivering objectives around automation and increasing efficiency.

Develop and execute clinical pharmacology and pharmacometrics strategies to mitigate risks and support development of small molecule and/or biologics drug candidates from pre-IND and first-in- human testing through all phases of clinical development.

Develop clinical pharmacology study designs and collaborate with CROs and Clinical Operations to write study protocols, amendments, and reports, ensuring that designs and documents meet global regulatory and compliance requirements and project timelines.

Contribute to the design and analysis of PK data from patient clinical studies.

Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present data to internal project teams, governance, senior management, and to global health authorities.

Author, review, and finalize relevant sections of IND/CTA filings as well as NDA/MAA/BLA submissions and respond to health authority questions related to these submissions.

Represent Beigene in the external scientific environment – influencing partners and regulators in a positive way.

Provide clinical pharmacology reviews on business diligence activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

Global scientific oversight for all aspects of CPP deliverables

Direct management and mentoring junior members of the global group as needed

Manage clinical pharmacology vendors, and consultants for specific project needs

Education:

A Ph.D. or equivalent in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering or related discipline with at least 15 years of industry experience. Demonstrable scientific, clinical development and regulatory leadership based on prior experience is essential. Familiarity with DMPK studies, bioanalytical methods and prior experience in oncology drug development is also required.

Computer Skills:   

Knowledge of software required for execution of CPP deliverables, including NCA using Phoenix WinNonlin and other M&S tools (NONMEM, R, S-Plus, Berkeley Madonna, Simcyp, Gastroplus).

Travel:  Ability to travel to manage clinical pharmacology collaborations and to global health authority interactions.

Salary Range: $208,700.00 - $278,700.00 annually

Actual compensation packages are determined by several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, certifications, relevant education or training, and specific work location. Packages may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor. The recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for a preferred location during the hiring process.  Please note that the listed range reflects the base salary or hourly range only. Non-Commercial roles are eligible to participate in the annual bonus plan, and Commercial roles are eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
