At Roche, we are expanding our global medical affairs team in Ophthalmology with two openings for a Global Medical Science Leader (GMSL). This team is dedicated to understanding, anticipating, and contributing to the transformation of medical practice within the disease area. You will join a highly collaborative, matrixed environment where scientific expertise meets strategic planning to improve patient outcomes in healthcare ecosystems worldwide.
As a Global Medical Science Leader, you will serve as a core medical and clinical expert, leading the medical strategy contributions to the integrated strategy for our products. You will bridge the gap between clinical research and medical practice, ensuring our life cycle strategies are informed by deep insights from healthcare providers, patients, and payers.
To excel in this role, you will lead the evolution of medical practice through the following key responsibilities:
Lead and coordinate medical strategy contributions to the integrated strategy and life cycle strategy for assigned products or disease areas.
Develop and execute evidence generation strategies that incorporate "essential clinical practice data" and address "access" needs.
Coordinate the overall integrated evidence strategy, encompassing Clinical Development Plans (CDP) and data needs for market access.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Scientific Communication, Patient Partnership, Marketing, and Drug Development.
Maintain a current view of external trends, including Digital Health, personalized medicine, and healthcare ecosystem-centricity.
Represent medical expertise in clinical research and medical practice to catalyze the transformation of the respective disease area.
Integrate perspectives from multiple stakeholders, including HCPs, patients, nurses, and payers, into strategic decision-making.
You are a strategic thinker with a deep scientific background and a passion for shaping the future of ophthalmology. You should bring:
An MD with relevant clinical research or medical practice experience (patient care decision-making), or an advanced life-science degree (e.g., PhD / PharmD) with a compatible background.
Specialization degree and experience specifically in Ophthalmology (highly desired).
Proven ability to work effectively in a matrix environment with diverse cross-functional colleagues.
Strong understanding of the Integrated Development and Commercialization Planning process.
Expertise in evidence generation and the ability to translate complex medical data into actionable strategy.
