The Global Digital IT (GDIT) division is dedicated to being the business partner of choice for digital, data, and technologies, delivering outstanding value at speed and scale for patients and Ipsen. In this transformative context, GDIT plays a crucial role in driving innovation and efficiency across the organization.

Within GDIT, the Global Data & AI Division was established with the mission to act as a business enabler. This department is responsible for driving the strategic use of Data and AI across Ipsen and enhance business interoperability.

 

The Master Data Management (MDM) Solution Lead is responsible for defining, delivering, operating, and continuously improving Ipsen's Enterprise Master Data Management capabilities and associated technology platforms.

The role ensures that business-critical master data domains are governed, maintained, and leveraged effectively across the enterprise to support business operations, digital transformation initiatives, regulatory compliance, and data-driven decision-making.

The position combines strategic leadership, platform ownership, operational excellence, and transformation delivery, while working closely with Data Governance, Enterprise Architecture, Business Functions, and Delivery Partners to drive adoption, quality, and business value realization.

The role has direct accountability for the Enterprise MDM operating model, platform roadmap, service delivery, data quality improvement, vendor management, and continuous evolution of Ipsen's MDM ecosystem.

 

WHAT - Main Responsibilities & Technical Competencies

 

Enterprise MDM Strategy & Leadership

• Define and execute the Enterprise MDM strategy and roadmap aligned with business priorities.
• Lead the evolution of Ipsen's MDM capabilities across all data domains.
• Ensure MDM capabilities support business growth, compliance requirements, and operational efficiency.
• Drive adoption of enterprise master data processes, standards, and best practices.
• Act as the primary business and IT focal point for Enterprise MDM initiatives.

Enterprise MDM Platform Ownership

• Own the vision, roadmap, lifecycle, and value realization of the Enterprise MDM Platform.
• Lead the solution design of MDM projects and associated services.
• Ensure platform scalability, performance, resilience, and operational stability.
• Drive continuous platform modernization and capability expansion.
• Govern platform investments, priorities, and technology decisions related to MDM capabilities.

MDM Operating Model & Service Delivery

• Define and continuously improve the Enterprise MDM operating model.
• Ensure effective execution of support, maintenance, enhancement, and operational activities.
• Lead incident management, problem management, and service improvement initiatives.
• Monitor and improve service performance through KPIs and SLAs.
• Drive operational excellence across all MDM services and processes.

Data Quality & Stewardship Enablement

Partner with Data Manager Lead and/or Business Data Owners and/or Local Data Stewards to:

• Improve data quality across master data domains.
• Define data quality objectives, monitoring processes, and remediation plans.
• Support stewardship activities through appropriate tools, workflows, and operational processes.
• Co-lead specific initiatives to improve completeness, consistency, accuracy, and reliability of master data.
• Ensure master data supports business processes and downstream systems effectively.

Architecture & Integration Leadership (in close collaboration with the Data Architect)

• Define target-state architectures for master data management and distribution.
• Ensure alignment with Enterprise Architecture, Platform, Integration, Security, Privacy, and Compliance requirements.
• Lead MDM-related design reviews and architecture decisions.
• Promote standard integration patterns and reusable services for master data consumption.
• Support the integration of master data across enterprise platforms and business applications.

Business Transformation & Continuous Improvement (in collaboration with the Data Manager Lead)

• Assess current-state business processes, data flows, and MDM capabilities.
• Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies, risks, and technical debt.
• Define and execute remediation and improvement roadmaps.
• Support harmonization of master data processes across regions and business functions.
• Drive simplification, automation, and standardization initiatives.

Product Ownership & Demand Management

• Own and prioritize the Enterprise MDM backlog.
• Govern demand intake and prioritization processes.
• Balance business demand, operational sustainability, compliance requirements, and strategic objectives.
• Ensure successful delivery of releases, enhancements, and transformation initiatives.
• Drive adoption and business value realization.

Vendor & Partner Management

• Manage strategic relationships with support partners, software vendors, and managed service providers.
• Govern delivery quality, service performance, vendor and support contractual commitments, and financial performance.
• Lead regular operational and strategic vendor reviews.
• Optimize delivery models and resource utilization.

Data, Analytics & AI Enablement

• Ensure Enterprise MDM provides trusted master data foundations for Analytics and AI initiatives.
• Collaborate with Data & AI teams to maximize business value from mastered data assets.
• Support the development of business capabilities enabled by trusted enterprise master data.
• Promote reuse of MDM assets across digital transformation programs.         

Financial Management

• Manage the Enterprise MDM Platform and support budget and associated investments.
• Build business cases supporting platform evolution and strategic initiatives.
• Ensure effective allocation of resources and optimization of operating costs.
• Track and communicate value realization from MDM investments.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as trusted advisor to Business and IT stakeholders for Enterprise MDM matters.
• Active contribution to steering Committees, Design Authorities, Change Boards, and executive reviews related to MDM.
• Communicate MDM Maturity level, risks, service performance, and business value outcomes.
• Facilitate alignment and decision-making across cross-functional teams.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Define the team setup, roles, and responsibilities needed to run the MDM platform.
• Organize regular reviews for backlog, incidents, service performance, roadmap, and delivery.
• Make sure each activity has a clear owner, including support, data quality, releases, vendors, and business requests.
• Follow support and platform performance using simple KPIs such as incidents, backlog progress, SLA, release quality, data quality, and user satisfaction.

 

 

HOW - Knowledge & Experience

Knowledge & Experience (required):

• 15+ years of experience in Master Data Management, Data Platforms, Data Operations, or Digital Transformation.
• Proven experience leading enterprise-scale MDM platforms, operating models, service delivery, and transformation initiatives.
• Strong expertise in MDM platform ownership, roadmap management, lifecycle governance, operational stability, and continuous improvement.
• Experience managing global teams, vendors, managed service providers, and strategic partners in a matrix and international environment.
• Strong stakeholder management, senior-level facilitation, and executive communication skills.
• Experience in financial planning, budget management, business case development, and cost optimization.
• Strong knowledge of Data Quality, MDM operations, stewardship processes, master data domains, reference data, and issue remediation practices.

Knowledge & Experience (preferred):

• Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, or other highly regulated industry experience.
• Knowledge of GxP / CSV expectations, GDPR constraints, data integrity, privacy, security, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with Reltio or equivalent Enterprise MDM platforms.
• Experience with cloud-based integration patterns, enterprise data ecosystems, and downstream data consumption models.
• Experience enabling Analytics and AI initiatives through trusted, governed, and high-quality master data foundations.

Key Success Measures:

• Improvement of master data quality, reduction of data and process issues, and increased efficiency of MDM operations.
• Platform availability, operational stability, vendor performance, and cost optimization.
• Successful delivery of MDM roadmap commitments, rollout of new domains and capabilities, and adoption by business stakeholders.
• Contribution to enterprise data governance objectives and measurable business value realization from MDM investments.

Education / Certifications:

• Master’s degree in information management, data management, business administration, engineering, computer science, life sciences, or a related field.
• Certification or formal training in data governance, data management, data quality, MDM, privacy, or related frameworks is a plus.

Language(s):

• English and French fluent.
• Another major business language is a plus.
