The Diagnostics Partnering organisation is responsible for managing Roche Diagnostics' partnerships on a global scale. These partnerships cover various aspects such as research & development, technology, biomarkers, digital solutions, and commercial deals. The Diagnostics Strategy and Transactions team is looking for a Global Partnering Lead (Senior Manager, Director) for the APAC Subchapter. This position sources opportunities, builds and leads deal and diligence teams to evaluate opportunities, and leads the negotiation of agreements to access promising partnering candidates across our different business and customer areas. You will lead matrix project teams that drive Roche Diagnostics' external growth strategy globally, therefore working outside standard office hours to accommodate time zones are expected.

The Opportunity:

Want - Define external growth strategy:

• Perform and provide expertise & thought leadership as part of the squad teams to proactively generate strategic opportunities (areas/segments) that contribute to the Roche Diagnostics strategy 
• Co-create with internal stakeholders strategic partnering WANTs and target product profiles (TPP) in line with the Roche Diagnostics` Strategy.

Find - Identify and prioritize external partnership options:

• Generate and secure a continuous flow of attractive partnership options by maintaining a strong internal ( business & customer areas, Life Cycle teams, R&D, networks, regions and affiliates, and global and group functions) & external network (companies, banks, VCs, academic institutions, etc)
• Proactively conduct in close collaboration with the Science and Technology Team & business stakeholders to systematic screen for suitable technologies, products, digital solutions, and companies
• Perform evaluation (strategic, financial assessment & feasibility assessment, selection of appropriate deal structure) & prioritization against strategic WANTs and TPP of external partnership options with an emphasis on business modeling.

Get & Create - Agree on partnership structure with external partner

• Lead the preparation, structuring, and negotiation of new business partnership and transaction agreements (across the entire range of transaction types incl Licensing, R&D-, Commercial Collaboration agreements) with the external partner - in collaboration with all other team/squad members and internal stakeholders. On M&A transactions, you will be working as a team together with Group Business Development.
• As part and alongside squad members, lead and provide best practice in planning and conducting Due Diligences (external partnership options meets strategic WANTs or TPP)
• Prepare objective, sound, and well-prepared recommendations regarding specific business partnerships to senior management and respective governance bodies

Manage - Ensure transition to internal stakeholders to allow for effective implementation:

• Establish a business relationship and collaborate with Partnering Alliances & Ecosystem Management team members following execution of the partnership or transaction

Who You Are

• Education & Industry Expertise: You hold an advanced degree in science, engineering or a related field (ideally at a PhD or Masters) and possess a solid understanding of the Diagnostics industry, including lifecycle processes, development, and global business development trends.
• Business Development & Deal Track Record (preferred): You have experience or background in business or corporate development, strategy consulting, venture capital, investment banking, or a related field (strong plus), featuring broad knowledge and ideally a track record in negotiating business partnerships and/or transactions (such as M&A, Licensing, R&D, and Commercial Collaboration agreements), alongside knowledge of accounting, finance, and financial modeling.
• Leadership & Collaboration: You demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, including a track record of managing multiple high-performing cross-functional teams and projects, while remaining deeply committed to cross-functional collaboration and breaking down silos to achieve the best results for the organization.
• Strategic Thinking & Communication: You possess strong strategic thinking, analytical, and conceptual problem-solving skills, paired with exceptional written and oral communication abilities to distill complex problems and proposals into clear, succinct decision documents for management and governance bodies.
• Mindset & Interpersonal Skills: You bring a growth mindset focused on continuous learning, coaching, and mentoring peers, with a proven ability to navigate a changing organization while maintaining objectivity, fairness, open communication, consensus-building skills, and respect for differences of opinion.
• Language: Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English language
