General Accounting Specialist

Job Description

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a General Accounting Specialist in Finance. This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant financial accounting and reporting while driving continuous improvement, process standardization and finance transformation initiatives.

This role combines strong accounting expertise with advanced analytical capabilities and project management skills to support strategic decision-making, financial compliance and operational excellence. The position serves as a key liaison between Finance, Tax, Business Services and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will play an active role in leveraging data, automation and digital solutions to improve financial processes, strengthen controls and generate actionable insights for the business.

The person can be based in Madrid or in Salamanca.

What you will do

Bring energy, knowledge, innovation and leadership to carry out the following:

• Execute and review month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities in accordance with corporate accounting policies and local statutory requirements.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of general ledger balances and financial reporting.
• Prepare and review complex journal entries, accruals, provisions and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and other local reporting obligations.
• Coordinate audit requests and provide support during external and internal audits.
• Partner with Tax teams in the preparation and review of corporate income tax calculations and tax provisions.
• Monitor changes in accounting and tax regulations and assess potential impacts on financial reporting.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process simplification, standardization and automation.
• Lead and participate in cross-functional and global projects impacting finance processes and reporting.

What skills you will need

In order to excel in this role, you will more than likely have:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in Accounting, Financial Reporting or Accounting-to-Reporting environments.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
• Experience driving process improvement initiatives.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP environment.
• Experience with Corporate Income Tax and deferred tax accounting.
• Experience participating in finance transformation programs and system implementations.
• Project management experience in cross-functional environments.
