Field Podder Advocate (Field Based)

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced diabetes educator or Certified Pod Trainer to make a direct impact on patient outcomes while partnering with one of the most innovative companies in diabetes technology. As a Field Podder Advocate, you'll play a critical role in helping new Omnipod 5 users successfully adopt and remain on therapy by providing personalized clinical support, education, and coaching during their first 90 days. Working closely with healthcare providers, clinic staff, and the local territory team, you'll serve as a trusted clinical resource, helping patients overcome barriers, build confidence, and experience the full benefits of Omnipod therapy. This full-time, 4-5 month contract role is ideal for professionals who are passionate about diabetes care, enjoy building meaningful patient relationships, and thrive in a flexible, field-based environment.

Position Summary 

The Field Podder Advocate is an in-territory, retention-focused clinical role, dedicated to supporting new Omnipod 5 users during the critical first 90 days of therapy. Working in close collaboration with the Territory Manager, Clinical Services Manager, Healthcare Providers and clinic staff, the Podder Advocate will serve as a consistent post-training clinical point-of-contact, proactively engaging customers based on risk assessments and providing targeted clinical support to help them successfully adopt and remain on therapy. Through value-driven clinical support, this role reinforces confidence in Omnipod therapy and proactively addresses barriers to long term use.

Through a structured, risk-based support model, the Field Podder Advocate will assume local patient support, post-initial training, and provide clinical follow-up customized to patients’ level of attrition risk. This role will leverage targeted retention calls, relevant resources, in-person follow-ups and refresher trainings, as needed, to provide high-touch clinical support to patients in their territory. This role will also interface with HCP offices as a clinical partner to provide continuity of care and equip HCP offices to support their patients’ ongoing use of Omnipod.  

The Field Podder Advocate plays a critical role in improving customer engagement, successful therapy adoption, and long-term therapy continuation by delivering a high-support, seamless, clinically driven post-training experience that helps customers successfully navigate challenges and realize the full benefits of ongoing Omnipod therapy.

Key Responsibilities  

• Implement the risk-based, retention workflow for patients in territory, post-training.  

• Provide clinical support post-training, for patients in territory, as needed.  

• Contribute to clinical partnerships with HCPs and clinic staff.  

• Own patient follow-up and clinical support throughout the post-training journey, with a focus on successful therapy adoption and retention. 

• Collaborate with Clinical Services Managers, territory teams, and healthcare provider offices to coordinate patient care and support. 

• Conduct targeted retention outreach, clinical coaching, refresher training, and resource-based interventions based on patient needs and risk level. 

• Foster strong clinical partnerships that enhance patient engagement and support long-term therapy success. 

• Document customer interactions and support activities in accordance with company policies and established workflows. 

• Identify and escalate patient barriers, trends, and opportunities that may impact retention, adoption, or the customer experience. 

 

Performance Expectations   

• Execute the defined retention workflow consistently and within established service expectations.  

• Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement through proactive, retention-intensive clinical support. 

• Maintain complete and timely documentation of customer touchpoints, risk reassessments, interventions, and escalations. 

• Demonstrate effective collaboration across territory team and with territory HCPs and clinic staff. 

• Achieve productivity metrics while successfully managing patient support responsibilities. 

• Influence improved therapy adoption, continuation, and retention outcomes within assigned territory.

• Proficiency with technology (both large data systems as well as personal devices, such as insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors). 

• Demonstrated expertise managing insulin pump therapy, including patient onboarding, education, troubleshooting, and ongoing support. 

• Proven ability to deliver clinical education, facilitate learning, and drive adoption of diabetes technology in clinical practice. 

Education and Experience  

Minimum Qualifications 

• Associate degree  

• Certified Pod Trainer (CPT) 

• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) 

• Professional, up-to-date clinical credentials: Registered Dietitian (RD), or Registered Nurse (RN), PharmD, Physicians Assistant (PA), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or other clinical credentials; state licensure (as required per state) 

• 2+ years of clinical experience in diabetes care, endocrinology, or a related healthcare specialty. 

• 2+ years of direct experience training and supporting users of advanced diabetes technologies including insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)  

• Valid driver’s license  

Preferred Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s degree  

Additional Information 

• Must reside within the geographic area of the assigned territory. This position requires regular business travel, mostly by car within a set geographic region.  

• Overnight travel and amount of air travel varies by territory, may be as much as 2 – 5 overnights per month.  

• Ability to lift, carry and transport up to 30 lbs., professional sales samples and literature. 

For U.S.-based positions only, the annual base salary for this role is $137,280.
