What you will do

In this role, the Executive Director, U.S. Brand Lead - Neurology (Rare Disease) owns the U.S. commercial strategy, execution, forecast, budget, and performance for the UPLIZNA Neurology indications: generalized myasthenia gravis (gMG) and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD). The role also owns the U.S. BKEMV business and leads the BKEMV marketing team. The role was created in recognition of the increasing scope and complexity of UPLIZNA's growth drivers and the need for dedicated senior leadership for the Neurology indications. Reporting to the General Manager, Neurology & IgG4-RD, the Executive Director is a member of the Neurology & IgG4-RD Leadership Team and is accountable to the General Manager for business results.

The Executive Director owns strategy and execution for the Neurology indications, and the Neurology and BKEMV budgets. The role partners closely with the IgG4-RD brand team and other cross-indication partners to maintain a consistent UPLIZNA brand experience while addressing the needs of each indication.

Key Responsibilities include:

U.S. Business Strategy and Performance

• Own the U.S. commercial strategy and annual and long-range plans for UPLIZNA in gMG and NMOSD, and BKEMV, consistent with the cross-indication strategy and direction set by the General Manager.
• Own the Neurology forecast and its commercial assumptions, with inputs and support from Forecasting, Data & Analytics, and Finance.
• Own the Neurology and BKEMV budgets and allocate resources against approved priorities; recommend changes in investment to the General Manager as business needs evolve.
• Deliver revenue and profitability objectives by identifying growth opportunities, addressing barriers, and making timely changes to strategy, execution, targeting, channel mix, and investment.

Integrated Brand Execution

• Lead development and execution of integrated brand plans across health care professional, patient and caregiver, digital and omnichannel, peer-to-peer, congress, field, access, and patient services channels.
• Work closely with the Portfolio Strategy, Omnichannel and Thought Leader Liaison teams to drive integrated execution
• Establish priorities, governance, decision rights, milestones, and accountability across the cross-functional brand team.
• Collaborate with Sales Leadership and Training on field strategy, training, tools, messaging, and customer engagement resources; maintain a regular feedback loop between field and brand teams.
• Oversee agency and vendor partners, including strategic direction, quality, resource use, and delivery of priority work.

Insights Forecasting and Optimization

• Set objectives and performance measures and lead regular reviews of patient, customer, market, access, competitive, channel, and execution trends.
• Partner with Brand Analytics & Insights, Market Research, Sales, TLLs, and Finance to translate data into business decisions and executive-level performance updates.
• Lead scenario planning and mitigation across competitive, access, reimbursement, operational, supply, and policy considerations.

Portfolio, Access and Customer Leadership

• Partner with the General Manager, IgG4-RD brand team, and cross-indication Portfolio Strategy team on UPLIZNA positioning, core messaging, customer experience, shared capabilities, and portfolio investment choices.
• Partner with Market Access, Value & Access, Patient Services, and field teams to address barriers across diagnosis, referral, access, treatment initiation, and continuity of therapy.
• Collaborate with Thought Leader Liaison team to ensure strategy is executed appropriately across this field-based team
• Provide commercial input into evidence-generation priorities based on customer, patient, access, and competitive needs, in partnership with Medical and Value & Access and in accordance with applicable governance requirements.
• Represent the U.S. Neurology business in governance forums and appropriate external engagements, and provide input to global strategy, lifecycle planning, and future growth opportunities.

BKEMV Leadership

• Own U.S. BKEMV strategy, budget, performance, and cross-functional alignment within the broader Amgen biosimilars strategy.
• Lead the BKEMV marketing team in navigating customer and channel dynamics, access and contracting considerations, competitive response, and value communication.
• Use shared capabilities where they add value while preserving the distinct strategies, customers, and operating requirements of UPLIZNA and BKEMV.

Enterprise and People Leadership

• Serve as a member of the Neurology & IgG4-RD Leadership Team and contribute to business strategy, talent, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
• Lead the cross-functional brand team across Marketing, Sales, Medical, Market Access, Patient Services, Value & Access, Digital, Data & Analytics, Finance, Corporate Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Global Commercial. Functional leaders retain accountability for decisions within their functions.
• Build, develop, and retain an effective marketing team; set expectations, coach talent, and create development and succession opportunities.
• Ensure strategies, materials, and activities comply with applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, and Amgen requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

• Doctorate degree and 6 years of marketing and/or commercial experience; OR
• Master's degree and 10 years of marketing and/or commercial experience; OR
• Bachelor's degree and 12 years of marketing and/or commercial experience; AND
• 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

• Progressive leadership experience in U.S. biopharmaceutical marketing, including accountability for an inline or recently launched brand in a competitive specialty market
• Rare disease and/or neurology experience; experience in gMG, NMOSD, neuroimmunology, infusion-based therapies, or high-value biologics
• Success accelerating post-launch growth and translating performance insights into business results
• Commercial experience across health care professional and patient marketing, omnichannel engagement, field execution, market access, patient services, forecasting, analytics, and financial management
• Experience owning brand budgets and forecasts, setting performance measures, prioritizing investments, and communicating business performance to senior leadership
• Understanding of the U.S. payer, reimbursement, specialty distribution, buy-and-bill, and site-of-care environment relevant to rare disease therapies.
• Track-record of building high-performing teams and creating strong team culture
• Biosimilar commercialization experience or the ability to lead across distinct business models and markets
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
• Experience navigating medical, legal, regulatory, and compliance review processes
• Advanced degree, such as an MBA
• Approximately 25% travel, including overnight and occasional weekend commitments. Routine travel to Deerfield is not included in this estimate. Expected presence in Deerfield at least one week per month and additionally as needed for key meetings, team engagements, and conferences
• Candidates may live anywhere in the U.S. with access to a major airport

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is $262,534 to $355,194. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
