Depending on your interests and skills, you may be placed within one of the following teams:

• Hip New Product Development

• Knee New Product Development

• Design Quality

• Research and Testing
  

You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to designing medical implants and surgical instruments, generating design concepts, defining product specifications, identifying suitable materials, developing robust in vitro test methodologies and analyzing retrieved products depending on the team you join. As well as a lot of technical opportunities we look to our employees to drive and develop our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that focus on areas such as Women in Leadership, STEM outreach and Open&Out. You will also benefit from being mentored by a permanent staff member as well as day to day advice and guidance from your team.

Join Johnson & Johnson MedTech and help design innovative healthcare solutions that improve patients’ lives. Working with technologies such as robotics, 3D printing, and digital health, you'll collaborate with diverse teams to bring new products from concept to launch.

Depending on your team allocation development opportunities; specialist training and responsibilities may include the following:

• Support project planning and contribute to digital innovation initiatives.

• Perform product testing using advanced engineering and laboratory equipment.

• Assist with product validation activities and development of test methods and protocols.

• Gain hands-on experience with orthopedic materials and medical device development.

• Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including Design, Bioengineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Research, and Testing.

• Conduct technical research and prepare reports to support product development.

• Support equipment validation, design verification, and regulatory documentation.

• Work closely with surgeons to understand joint replacement procedures and user needs.

• Contribute to concept generation, brainstorming, and innovative design solutions.

• Create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and prototypes.

• Support medical instrument design and liaise with external suppliers on manufacturing processes.

• Manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  

Requirements of the role:

• 2 years of degree level study completed.

• A minimum of 2:1, or equivalent, achieved in first year of study.

• We're looking for students in Engineering, Data Science, or Design fields, including Biomedical, Clinical, Medical, Mechanical, Materials, Product Design, or related fields.
  

The following are not a requirement, but may be advantageous:

• Knowledge of Python, data analysis, and data science concepts.

• Experience with sensors and data acquisition systems.

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.
