Monitor and report EHS performance by ensuring the EHS site objectives are in place and aligned to Vaccines’ EHS plan and priorities. Support the site director in holding the organization to account on EHS performance, influencing peer group both SLT and Regional EHS and Engineering, share lessons and good practice within the site and GSC network ensuring a positive culture is established and sustained.
Ensure the site’s very high inherent risk profile is well managed with all Process Safety Management elements effectively developed, managed and maintained to ensure the safety of employees and the surrounding community in partnership with the site’s Engineering team.
Support sustainability site objectives and ensure alignment to Vaccines’ Sustainability plan and priorities. Ensure an integrated, comprehensive approach is taken with environmental management to reduce contributions to GSK’s overall environmental impact from the manufacturing site.
Investigate EHS accidents and high potential incidents to identify and implement improved EHS practices. Be able to both lead and work in collaboration with teams, objectively analyzing information and circumstances relevantly, determining appropriate corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence. Actively champion the consideration of human factors and human reliability in proactive risk assessments and system design. Develop problem solving capability, using rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.
Ability to execute GSK’s Internal Control Framework and Risk Management standards and processes (including Engineering technical requirements & processes for the management of high severity hazards) and be capable of effectively subscribing these fundamentals into a site-specific management system designed to holistically manage EHS risks.
Manage audits: Investigate any adverse audit/and or inspection findings determining the appropriate corrective and preventive actions to close gaps and EHS risks. Must risk assess, appropriately identify, evaluate and mitigate risks, coupled with effective monitoring that the risks are adequately reduced to an acceptable level.
Drive to continuously improve the safety culture of the site, ensuring safe behaviors are encouraged and rewarded. Actively engage with the site to ensure that behavioral safety is always at the heart of how the site operates.
Direct financial responsibility for the budget of the EHS department and indirect financial responsibility in the following:
Outstanding team development capabilities, exemplified by a track record on leading, coaching and developing superior safety professionals. Raising EHS competence of site leadership teams on how to improve EHS performance. Be able to relate to and bring out the best in others, both locally within teams and across the wider organization to achieve GSK objectives and goals.

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety/Health, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry or other related field
If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
Safety certifications such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager
Good understanding of key Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles
Thorough understanding of key regulatory requirements
Highly effective written, oral and presentation skills
Ability to prioritize multiple demands, think strategically and successfully lead multiple simultaneous projects
