Director, US Pricing - (Hybrid - Acton, MA or San Diego, CA)

Job Summary

This role is primarily responsible for developing and implementing strategies to secure access and appropriate reimbursement rates for innovations at Insulet. Reporting to the Vice President of Market Access, the individual will collaborate closely with various teams, including Marketing, Medical Affairs, Sales, and Managed Care. Success in this position requires a comprehensive understanding of payor success factors, strong project management skills, leadership abilities, and strategic thinking to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ideal candidates will have relevant marketing experience in health insurance and pharmacy, preferably with knowledge of diabetes technology and the insurance markets. They must also be adept at mastering complex scientific data and economic models, translating this information into effective messaging for customers. Given the Marketing Department's extensive interactions with internal and external stakeholders, exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment while maintaining composure.

Position Overview:

This role has primary responsibility for developing and implementing the strategy and the deliverables to secure access for innovations developed by Insulet at rates of reimbursement that reflect the value of these innovations.  You will report to the Vice President, Market Access and work closely with the Marketing, Medical Affairs, Sales, Field Managed Care and National Account Teams and accomplish these objectives.

Success in this position will require the individual to possess in-depth understanding of the critical success factors of payors and health/pharmacy benefits market.  The individual will require excellent project management skills, ability to work with multiple teams, leadership skills, broad strategic thinking and the ability to carry out multiple tasks in parallel. Competitive candidates will possess relevant experience in marketing roles focused on the health insurance and pharmacy in support of field managed care, channel and sales teams. Familiarity with diabetes technology and the health insurance markets are preferred.  In addition to mastering the health insurance coverage processes the individual must be able to master complex scientific data and economic models and then to translate this knowledge into messages that meets our customer’s critical success factors.

Given the extensive contact the Marketing Department has with multiple internal and external parties, strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential. The qualified candidate should enjoy working in an ever- changing and fast paced environment. They must be able to maintain composure and poise. 

 

Responsibilities:

• Lead, coach and develop team of market access professionals to meet objectives and nurture their career development.
• Develop value proposition, messaging and resources necessary to for field teams to secure access.
• Develop materials, publications, communication strategy to broaden awareness of Insulet and value our products delivery payors both in US and Global markets.
• Build a continuing inventory of commercial insights specific to government and private payors, pharmacy benefit managers, distribution channel vendors, health benefit professionals (consultants and brokers), and national employers.
• Build a strategy for successful post- contracting programs and “pull through” strategies.
• Create marketing materials that appeal to the payors and employers critical success factors
• Develop coverage strategies for new products as well as potentially acquired products.  Will include input into the construct for outcomes trials necessary to support value based reimbursement.

 

Education and Experience:

• BA or BS required.  Advanced degree is strongly preferred, MBA, MS or MPH.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing, managed care and or consulting, with a strong track record and excellent references.

 

Preferred Skills and Competencies:    

   

• Demonstrated capacity to develop marketing programs and support focused on customer – centric/market centric mindset
• Managed Care marketing experience preferred with a strong preference for candidates who have worked directly with key payers and or pharmacy benefits in the USA.
• Proven analytical skills with scientific papers and market intelligence
• Health Economics training or background is preferred
• Willingness to travel in the USA, as needed
