Director, New Solutions Development - Pharmaceutical Distribution

Position Summary

The Director, New Solutions Development provides strategic and operational leadership for the development, execution, and lifecycle management of customer-facing solutions supporting health systems, retail pharmacies and other pharmacy classes of trade. This role is accountable for driving disciplined new solutions development and ensuring successful execution from ideation through go-to-market readiness, launch, and post-launch optimization. Additionally, the role is accountable for solutions lifecycle management program governance and strengthening solutions portfolio management.

The Director partners closely with sales, marketing, finance, operations, IT, and external partners to deliver new solutions that meet market needs, align with organizational strategy, and deliver expected outcomes, while fostering a high-performance and agile team culture.

This role reports to the Vice President, Marketing – Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for the New Solutions Development function, effectively communicating internally to ensure optimal visibility and clear engagement across Pharmaceutical and Specialty Distribution commercial teams
• Lead new solutions development initiatives from ideation through launch, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy, market demand, and financial commitments
• Own and evolve the stage-gate process and solutions lifecycle management framework, ensuring consistent governance, prioritization, and decision-making across the Pharmaceutical and Specialty Distribution solutions portfolio
• Develop, prioritize, and actively manage a pipeline of new solution ideas and lifecycle management opportunities, balancing innovation, capacity, and ROI
• Analyze market trends, competitive positioning, and "Voice of Customer" results to identify emerging opportunities to expand our solutions portfolio
• Partner with IT and internal subject matter experts to define technical requirements for new solutions, ensuring alignment with market needs, customer expectations, and business objectives
• Partner with marketing and sales teams to ensure effective go-to-market strategy, launch readiness, and customer adoption of new solutions
• Drive execution of financial commitments and business cases for new solutions, including revenue growth, cost savings, and performance tracking
• Monitor performance management of existing programs and solutions, evaluating and communicating results and identifying opportunities to enhance value, optimize offerings, or rationalize the portfolio
• Enable successful transitions of new solutions to operational owners as initiatives mature, ensuring continuity, accountability, and sustained results
• Provide leadership for key, cross-functional strategic initiatives currently supported within the New Solutions Development team, ensuring clarity of ownership, timelines, risks, and outcomes
• Build and sustain a high-performance culture, leading through change, driving engagement, and strengthening succession and talent pipelines
• Develop, retain, and empower talent through frequent and consistent coaching and professional development       

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
• 12+ years of experience in product development, product management, product marketing or a closely-related field preferred
• Experience in development of customer-facing solutions supporting health systems, retail pharmacies and other pharmacy classes of trade preferred
• Experience managing solutions portfolios, including prioritization, governance, and optimization
• Robust experience developing and executing business cases, financial models, and performance tracking for new programs or solutions
• Team leadership experience including experience leading other people leaders is strongly preferred
• Experience partnering in a matrixed environment and collaborating with senior leaders across Sales, Finance, IT, Operations, Marketing, Legal and Compliance
• Background in software and/or product development methodologies or project management preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to travel as needed, estimated 10-15%
  

Anticipated salary range: $137,400 – $232,320
