Director, Market Access Pricing and Strategy

POSITION OVERVIEW The Director, Market Access Pricing and Strategy plays a critical role in preparing Bicara Therapeutics for the commercial launch of its lead asset, ficerafusp alfa (FICERA). Reporting to the SVP, Market Access, this role owns the development of Bicara's U.S. pricing strategy — shaping the payer value proposition, contracting approach, and reimbursement strategy — and applies evidence based outcomes and analog insights to inform pricing decisions. As a recognized subject matter expert, the Director partners closely with Medical Affairs, HEOR, Legal, Finance, and Commercial leadership to ensure Bicara's pricing and access approach reflects the full clinical and economic value of FICERA. This role is remote, with the ability to travel to Bicara's Boston office on a monthly basis. Responsibilities - Market Access Strategy & Launch Readiness: Lead the development and execution of the U.S. market access strategy for ficerafusp alfa, including payer engagement, reimbursement coverage, and access-related support. - Pricing & Contracting Strategy: Develop the U.S. pricing and contracting strategy, incorporating payer research, competitive dynamics, value assessment, and reimbursement considerations. - Payer Value Proposition: Shape a differentiated payer value proposition and identify the evidence requirements needed to demonstrate the clinical, economic, and patient value of FICERA. Partner with Medical Affairs and HEOR to ensure evidence-generation plans address payer and access needs. - Payer Insights & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and execute payer research and engagement plans across national and regional health plans, PBMs, pathways organizations, and other key stakeholders, translating insights into actionable recommendations. - Health Care Policy Expertise: Continuously monitor and assess federal and state policy changes that will impact U.S. pricing initiatives, and turn those learnings into internal education tools. - Internal SME & Cross-Functional Alignment: Serve, alongside the SVP, Market Access, as the organization's primary subject-matter expert on ASP, J-Code, pass-through, buy-and-bill, reimbursement, and IRA topics, providing strategic direction across the company. - Talent Development: As the pricing and access function grows, help build, mentor, and manage functional talent, providing clear direction and development opportunities. - Competitive Landscape Monitoring: Continuously assess competitive dynamics to anticipate challenges, inform strategy, and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study; MBA, PharmD, or other advanced degree preferred. - 8+ years of experience including 5+ years in pricing, market access, or reimbursement experience. - Oncology launch strategy experience across at least 5 U.S. product launches. - Background in U.S. healthcare government relations preferred. - Working knowledge of ASP, J-Code, pass-through, buy-and-bill, reimbursement, and IRA dynamics. - Proven ability to work with and educate cross-functional partners across the organization. - Strong analytical acumen. - Executive presence with a strong sense of accountability. - Demonstrated ability to balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment. - Track record of efficient, effective, solution-oriented multitasking. - Cultural alignment with Bicara’s Values of Powered by People for Patients, Adaptive Momentum and Candor that Elevates - Up to 20% travel required for this role.
