POSITION SUMMARY
Compliance is a shared responsibility across the organization, with the Director of Global Regulatory & Trade Compliance (GRTC) providing the specialized expertise, guidance, tools and processes necessary to enable the business to operate effectively and confidently within applicable laws and regulations. The Director will be responsible for the effective development, implementation, management and oversight of global regulatory and trade compliance for the Cryoport family of companies, currently including Cryoport Systems, MVE Biological Solutions and CRYOGENE. The Director will also be responsible for executing operational aspects of the trade compliance program for the Cryoport Systems business unit. The position will support our commitment to improving overall supply chain effectiveness and efficiency globally for all Cryoport customers. The Director of GRTC will serve as a strategic business partner to the business units and subject matter expert regarding import and export controls, importer of record, economic sanctions, customs compliance, trade documentation, product and commodity classification, broker and freight-forwarder oversight, and other related regulatory requirements. The Director will work collaboratively with leaders and teams across all business units to help achieve business objectives while maintaining appropriate compliance and risk management. The position reports to the VP and General Counsel of Cryoport, Inc.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to)
• Serving as the subject matter expert on global regulatory and trade compliance functions. Supporting both internal and external customers.
• Developing and maintaining the Import/Export regulatory policies.
• Establishing appropriate escalation processes for material compliance issues and providing leadership with clear assessments of risk, business impact and recommended courses of action.
• Executing operational aspects of the trade compliance program for the Cryoport Systems business unit, including without limitation, import/export record keeping and filing requirements, product and commodity classification, broker and freight-forwarder oversight, denied party screening, compliance with economic sanctions, and developing the regulatory and trade compliance function as a value add to our internal customers and a source of revenue generation at it relates to our external customers.
• Creating and providing training, as appropriate, for all internal customers as to the regulatory and trade compliance function and requirements.
• Partnering with business unit and functional leaders to identify regulatory and trade requirements early in the decision-making process and develop solutions that enable the business to execute its commercial and operational plans while appropriately managing compliance risk.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Licensed Customs Broker
• Bachelor's degree - business administration, management, supply-chain
• 10+ years prior experience in global import/export trade and regulatory compliance
• Good working knowledge and experience using Lean and 6-sigma tools.
• Active supply chain experience beyond Import/Export is a plus.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of developing AI application affecting Global Regulatory & Trade Compliance preferred
• Ability to work with ERPs.
• Multiple languages (written & spoken) preferred
