As a member of the US Federal Government Affairs and Policy team, the Director, Federal Government Affairs will champion AstraZeneca’s public policy agenda on Capitol Hill to advance patient access to innovative medicines, promote healthcare, and support scientific progress. In this role, you will proactively shape constructive policy solutions, build trusted relationships with policymakers and stakeholders, and collaborate with internal, cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes that improve patient health and sustain innovation. What you'll do<div><ul><li>Maintain, establish, and cultivate relationships with Members of Congress and relevant personal office and Committee staff to create opportunities that raise the company’s visibility in Washington, DC, and promote company’s public policy objectives. </li><li>Lead the development, and responsible in the execution, of congressional engagement strategies </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a team and cross-functionally with multiple internal departments. </li><li>Drive federal policy development on issues through cross-functional engagement with internal subject matter experts. </li><li>Understand the company’s business goals and priorities; and work closely with colleagues throughout corporate affairs to advance shared goals. </li><li>Engage and demonstrate leadership with trade associations and/or coalitions in which the company participates; maintain strong working relationships with key influencers. </li><li>Serve as a resource to business colleagues on emerging legislative and political issues of importance to the company </li><li>Provide political and strategic legislative expertise on activities critical to achieving corporate objectives and serving on various internal work groups. </li><li>Participate in the management of the federal political action committee and the grassroots political program </li><li>Represent the company at political events for key Members of Congress and campaign committees. </li><li>Develop, track, and implement AZ Political Action Committee’s annual candidate support budget</li></ul></div><div>Essential for the role<div><ul><li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>6+ years of experience in government, government affairs, public affairs, or policy or related experience </li><li>Strong network and relationships with key Congressional stakeholders within the House Democratic Caucus </li><li>Healthcare sector experience</li><li>Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications, and strategic thinking capabilities </li><li>Proficiency in standard business software applications </li></ul></div><div>Desirable for the role<div><ul><li>Graduate degree </li><li>Experience in government, public policy, and/or legal affairs</li><li>Familiarity with political action committees </li><li>Robust understanding of pharmaceutical supply chain issues, as well as the health care landscape generally </li></ul></div><div>Office Working RequirementsWhen we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. The annual base pay for this position ranges from $151,753.60 - 227,630.40 USD. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
